New again member...getting back into the hobby! When I was on here several years ago there was a guy out on the east coast who had incredible finds underwater. He was detecting over an old Atlantic Ocean Pier that was no longer there!!! Trying to find his threads on here that he used to post. Can anyone direct me to his posts and or his call name on here? Thanks in advance!! Bob

I remember the guy. I don't know if he was on this forum or another. He was detecting an old park and pier that was burned or washed away in the early 1900's. He was finding amazing stuff.

I recall his posts too. In my recollection, I think it was on the Jersey shore. I think his moniker included the word "shark". I remember him finding lots of coins that fell down through the pier.

This guy:

The Best Of The Shark Pit 2009! by rtde3

I searched for the thread but couldn't find it. You might need to talk to a moderator.

jeff of pa may be able to help.

He was in the water at Colonial Beach Virginia. There was a series of piers built over the water in the early 20th C. Gambling was illegal in Virginia but because the Virginia state line stops at the low water line, the piers were legally in Maryland which made gambling legal. Weird, right?

Some people finally figured out where he was hunting and started going there. That's when he left Tnet and stopped posting finds. Too bad. He was a really nice guy. I remember sending him the Sanborn Fire Insurance maps for the piers, which he appreciated greatly.

Not “Scubadetector”? ... I haven’t heard anything out of him for a while but wasn’t sure if he was out of the East, I think I remember Scuba diving an old pier where an amusement park once stood, posting great finds every outing. Ddf

It was rtde3. His last post was May 6, 2014. He hunted what he called the Shark Pit.

Edit: dcmatt beat me to it.

Yea I remember. Some treasurenet members followed him and it made him upset. He may have removed all his posts

You guys have a better memory than I do. I always wondered what happened to him. At least I got the shark part right. I never knew where the site was, I must have assumed it was in New Jersey. I understand him taking the posts down, if others were stealing his hot spot.

Rob Taylor (rtde3) I've hunted the Shark Pit with him.I also have some of the "cookie coins" the i never zapped. I took him up to Antietam for his first 3 ringer.Pretty sure he's not under that name anymore but he could be around under another name. Never know :dontknow:

Same thing with deer hunting. There are lurkers on Facebook just looking to steal someones hunting spot. Im sure there are lurkers here that dont contribute anything.
