Do You Do The Majority Of Your Hunts Alone Or With Friends????

I would have to say that 95% of the time i hunt alone it could even be 99% i like it that way better............ I guess i have always been to independent do what i want to do when i want if i am in the mood i go out with the detector..............................I joined a treasure hunting club once did not work out for me had to be at a club meeting at a certain time be at a club hunt at a certain time watch that clock not for me......Let freedom ring. I am not a hermit have wife kids grand kids lot of freinds................but when i want to hunt i go hunt not meet you here at 3 PM Sat....that would be stuck on the clock..........and i think at 68 years young i will not change................................==Jim==

Most of the time I go it alone. Like being able to go where I want and at my own pace. About two weeks ago, I went with a guy who works with the same company I do and had a real good time. We hunted about the same pace but weren't running in to each other. Given the way people are today, I think its a good idea to buddy up to be safe.

Work is spent with friends detecting. For recreation I like to hunt alone with my own thoughts, but I like to have friends close by to talk to after the hunt and for safety too.

I hunt alone all by my self with nobody else....aa

;D.........I thought i was the only one that liked to get away by my self to hunt ....................................I guess i am not the only one that likes to be alone when i hunt...............==Jim==

I do often hunt with a pal but we keep our distance now a days.
We do though talk, compare targets and show finds...The typical stuff. Safety is also important.

When I've found older places (aka pre 1800) I hunt alone...

I almost always hunt with David. We tend to go seperate directions once we get to where we hunt but I like having him there to share finds with and enjoy his company a lot.

90% of the time I hunt with my wife, she brings me luck. The rest all by myself.

With a bottle of JD :tongue3:

When I hunt (which is always) even traveling from town to town.
I am alone 50% of the time.
My partner does the same.
If I find a new location I fill him in and share it with him.
He does the same with me.

There usually isn't any detector involved until a recovery is close.
so a worry about crowding or overlapping is not a worry.
all info gained is common info.

We are fortunate that where we are there is a proliferation of Spanish things to chase.
working together is a good way to come back alive.

I used to hunt by myself, but now I hunt with my grandpa. I would always just get pennies, but since my grandpa started coming with me, I swear I have been finding every single quarter and dime in the ground.

I tend to want to hunt with someone else but when I do they find treasure at my spot and I don't. So I hunt alone now.

alone- but then again, i don't know any other detectorists...
You are better off hunting alone.............You can associate with your freinds when you are not hunting....................That way you got your time with your freinds and your time to your self........................And when i hunt i want no one with me ..Wife..Kids..Freinds...That is my time......

I hunt alone. I have a huntin' buddy but he's pretty busy with family stuff most weekends.
It is easier to go when I want, where I want, and for as long as I want. It's wonderful when you find that one thing you really enjoy and you can do it pretty much anywhere and anytime.
I too tried the club thing and it wasn't for me either.......

Keep safe....

I once hunted exclusively with one of my best friends. Now that I have moved away from that area, I hunt alone except when I take my young sons with me. I prefer it that way because of the lesser complications. My former hunting buddy and I had very similar likes and dislikes and we both would hunt from daylight to dark. I believe to have a good hunting buddy, you have to be almost identical in personalities and share the same passion for this hobby.

All you have to be is honest with each other and share the desire to hunt.

why complicate something as simple as this with a whole lot of personal garbage.
leave all that behind,
life is too short not to enjoy each others company,
as well as being able to share the knowledge you both may have.

My partner is one of the best treasure hunters I know,
First of all he is my friend.
We don't always agree, but I trust his intuition and trail savvy against any of the best.
And the fact that he is honest is the other and most desirable trait he has.

I am lucky to share his confidence and I won't do a recovery without him.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant,
I am sure that MDing is different from what we do,
You all have to realise that certain fields require a partner, a buddy, or even just a trusted friend.
I have done this alone and have been very lucky.
Many others who have tried it alone didn't come out as lucky.
Most are either not doing it any longer or are crippled or even dead.

metal detecting is a hobby
Treasure hunting is an obsession,
and believe me it goes much deeper than coinshooting.
End of said rant.

sorry once again. I really don't like to hear all the negative things about partners.
if you find a good partner your experience will be enhanced four fold.
