I don’t collect them per se, but I have found a few. The coolest I’ve seen : an Ike blank my father in-law got in Vegas working in the secret service. One of the casinos called him thinking they were counterfeits - someone was putting them in slot machines. Turns out they were genuine!

I am an avid collector of our nations coins from all eras. I have a good collections of errors but not blanks. Interested to see what you have to sell.....

I get $3-$4 on Ebay. they always sell. only find nics , coppers & zinkies:dontknow:

I have a few, some found, some purchased.

Thanks for the replies! I have quite a bit to sell off but nothing like the quantity I sold off some 10 or 11 years ago. My' Error and Variety Coin Collection then totalled well over 15,000 coins. Although there were quite a few key date coins in the collection, the bulk were Varieties including about 35 Morgan and Peace Dollar VAM's and 300 to 400 Error coins. I regret selling that Collection because there were many Discovery coins in it that had not been recorded but I got fed up with the way many Coin Dealers treated me when buying or selling coins.

In the past six years I have gotten into Lincoln cent varieties and errors after going the Ebay roll searching route and learning on some forums (although interest in planchets is minimal).

It can be difficult dealing with them when trying to sell errors or varieties in bulk, even silver, because most people don't have time to verify most of them and just want to flip them.
A forum that might deal with a specific denomination or error will probably have a willing and eager audience. Or a Fa**book group for groups or lots of the same type (this seems to be a successful venue for some sellers.)

Just curious what route you used and how you manged to dispose of 15,000 coins before? That must have been a lot of work!!
(Just want to add how much I look forward to your reply's and threads here. Always helpful and informative with details. Thank you.)

After working a midnight shift, I packed them all up and drove to the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association Coin Show in Dalton, Georgia and sold them to Larry Briggs. Larry who I believe still owns and runs SEGS (Sovereign Entities Grading Service) sometimes gets a bad rap as some folks do not give the Grading Service the respect it and Larry deserves. However, Larry is the leading world expert on Bust and Seated Liberty Coins and lots of other early U.S. Coinage and can usually quote a specific Variety right off the top of his' head without ever having to look up the Variety. He also teaches courses on Grading and I believe on Bust & Seated Liberty Coins and has become a fair expert on Morgan & Peace Dollar VAM's courtesy of purchasing my' Collection. He delved into VAM's a little before purchasing my' Error and Variety Coin Collection but got more serious after purchasing the Collection. Besides, he is good friends with Leroy Van Allen of VAM fame. If you ever want to learn a lot about coins and especially early U.S. Coins, then go to a Coin Show where Larry has tables, introduce yourself (which is usually hard to do because he is so busy), tell him your interests and ask if you can sit at his' tables and learn from him. I have sat at his' table several times including all day when I sold him my' Error and Variety Coin Collection and got to meet a lot of the big players in the Coin World. Also, you will be amazed at how many times the Reps. for PCGS, NGC, ICG and ANACS will visit Larry's tables and ask him if a specific coin is genuine and/or what is the specific Variety. While I already knew Bill Fivaz before selling my' Collection, I obtained Mr' Fivas' respect as a Error and Variety Coin Collector when I sold my' Collection to Larry and also 2 years ago, when I sold both Larry and Bill some of my' Error and Variety Coins that I had found and accumulated since selling my' Collection.

Note: eBay was another reason for me selling my' Error and Variety Coin Collection because while I had hundreds of RPM, DDO and DDR coins that were worth anywhere from $50 to $150 each (and thousands more worth less), I could not compete with the bulk Error and Variety Coin Dealers on eBay who sold the same Varieties for $5 or less and often with free shipping.

I knew there was a good reason you had so much insight for this forum!!

You got me drooling and almost shorting out my keyboard, thinking of the Errors and Varieties you probably had from the Lincoln cent series. There are so many that intrigue me. (Such as the the 1934p DDO-004 with the secondary 93 below the primary date.)
Have you ever been to the Jarden Zinc factory in Tenn. where the Lincoln planchets are made? I don't even know if they offer tours but it would be neat to visit while visiting my folks near Nashville if they did.

Sounds like you have the other errors and varieties spoken for and are down to these planchets?

I am interested. I especially like the dollar errors Gold errors and anything you have in Fugio cents error or not I do own an off center fugio Awesome stuff.

I woulod love to see some of them

I have never been to the Jarden Zinc Factory but pass close by it when I sell ar the Jonesborough Flea Market on Sundays.

None of my' Error and Variety Coins are spoken for and currently only sell a few at the flea markets. Larry and Bill only want specific Errors and Varieties and mainly purchase only high grade specimens.

Sorry but I now mainly collect Cent, Nickel, Dime and Quarter Errors and Varieties and don't have any that are real old. Due to my much more limited budget these days, I very seldom search for VAM's and got out of searching for the Gold Dollar errors and varieties.

It looks like there will be some delay in me getting a Charter Membership so I can list and sell some of my' Error and Variety Coins in the Classifieds forums. My' Gas Hot Water Heater has been leaking for some time now and I will eventually have to replace it. To make matters worse, the Evaporator for my' A/C Unit blew last Friday with Freon coming up through the vents. I haven't called the Heat & Air Service yet that I use because I am very low on funds, so I don't know if the Evaporator is repairable or whether there are more problems than just the Evaporator. I can't afford a new A/C Unit and right now, can't afford the $600 to $800 to replace the Evaporator if it is not repairable. I have another A/C Unit but the Heat & Air Techs tell me that it is too small tonnage-wise for my' home but I may have to have it installed anyway. At least I have the Evaporator that was made for it. Again however, the cost to install the A/C Unit and Evaporator will likely approach $1,000 or more which I don't have. We are winging it on a small Window A/C Unit and fans but dang, we are suffering. It reminds me of the days when we lived in Key West and had very little extra money and could only run the A/C 4 hours a night. "Those were the days my friend, I am glad they came to an end"...but now they seem to be back.:BangHead:

Yeah but the last time it happened like this was when I found a carved Bear Tooth in a cave entrance and brought it home with me. That Native American piece had some really bad JuJu with it and for the next three weeks I had the worse luck of my life with everything breaking down. When I took it to my friend to return it to the cave and he could not take it back that day, he had the scare of his life. His' little toddler son got into Grandma's heart medication and ate it thinking it was candy. The little fellow was in ICU all night and they thought they were going to lose him. When the little guy came out of it the next morning, Jeff took the Bear Tooth back to the cave where I found it with him, tossed it in the entrance and he has never looked back. I am beginning to wonder if I recently got something Native American stuck in the sole of my' boots or shoes!!???:icon_scratch::BangHead:

Sorry to hear about the AC on the fritz. I was thinking of how we ever got along without it as a kid.
I can remember in Florida going with my folks to the grocery store and sticking my head in the floor freezers :occasion18: to get a whiff of cold air. It was great but burned my sinuses every time I did it. :icon_pale:

Sure hope you are able to get some relief.

I have an update with good news but have to leave in a minute, so I will post the info later.

I have been really busy running errands, getting consignment coins to sell at the flea markets, not getting enough sleep due to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome pain in my' right hand and wrist and a daughter that stays on my' computer in marathons, so I am sorry for taking so long to post the update!

Well, I finally got the A/C fixed last Thursday and it was not as bad as I thought. I had replaced the Condenser Motor and the Capacitor last year and due to conflicting information that came with them and that I was given, I had two wires connected to the Capacitor that conflicted with each other. Thus, they were shorting out, frying the Capacitor and apparently overheating the Blower Motor. The smell that my' daughters smelled was not Freon and was likely the Blower Motor overheating unless the Evaporator was getting a charge due to the short. Due to the good heart of the Technician, the repairs were really...really cheap, so I should be able to get my' Charter Membership soon and sell some of my' Error and Variety Coins here on TNET. I still have to replace the Hot Water Heater but should be able to get everything I need on my' Lowe's Card.
