I attach them to my loaner detectors so that "Newbies" don't become frustrated and want to give up on detecting.

I didthat when I first got it but after a while I learned the tones and didnt look at the VDI much went by the tones. but Im sure this will be helpful for alot of people

My new Minelab didn't even come with a manual of any kind. I wish it had. I'm just leaning as I go. Would be nice to have some sort of instructions.

Go to minelab.com and download it.
You can either read it on your PC or put it on a memory stick and have it printed for not a lot of money.
Or you can print it yourself if you want to print out 58 pages.
OR you can just print out what you need.
It's a nice pdf file.

Thanks. I'll check it out.

Just out of curiosity, which detector has a VDI reading up to 199?

Several of them do but, this is from a Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300. I sent it back because it did not like the soil in my area no matter how I set it up. I will probably buy another one later this year in hopes that they have updated the Firmware. We shall see.
