There were no 1-piece AVC buttons. The button in the photo is definitely a 2-piece. The photo shows the center of its back broke loose from the rest and "caved into" the front of the 2-piece button. Remnants of the broken-off back's edge show around the edge of the front. Also, a reverse-image of the front's emblem is visible inside the front.

I think the company that manufactured these buttons SCOVILL MFG CO WATERBURY made these buttons a lot sturdier if you will then say most of your standard issue Eagle buttons you find, so the quality of this button and sturdierness of it is more then likely why the shank is still there, to be honest it looks pretty kewl like this though most would want the complete back! Kewl find.. :occasion14:
