Did a clean up/scrap out(picture heavy)=New detector?

lol... check out this thread by JeffofPA... you otta go magnet fishing like those dudes.

They pulled a ton of scrap. heh

Safes aren't a good thing to scrap.
Full of fire proofing material/cement.
Scrap yards hate them actually.
Crazy video, a real dumping ground.

Congrats on the clean up! I love my scrap pile too!

I go to the dump a lot. Man you could make an absolute killing if you could pick those piles. Unreal the stuff people toss out.
Thanks
If a person works at it, it pays for those extra little things in life.
Though it's beneath so many people to do things like this.

Been really kind of busy, not having anytime to do the scrap.
So over the past 8 years I have just thrown it in a pile, and all the detecting iron in barrels.
So it came time to start cleaning this pile up.
An assorted collection in behind the small shed, out of sight=out of mind, but it was starting to flow onto the access lane to the sugar bush lane.
This has been a direct result of a house renovation, barn demolition, an auction, iron detecting finds for a decade

I worked at this pile to get some gate material out, and it kind exploded. View attachment 2048515View attachment 2048516
I then it got me thinking it's time to clean it up, so on and off for 2+ weeks, to get it all sorted.

I sold some reusables for $400-Basically a little over what I would of got from the scrap yard to a couple of buddies.
Net result $400.00

Yesterday I got the 40 yrd bin of steel taken to the scrap yard net result 16,200 lbs of oversize clips category.

I followed later with the truck and trailer of the mixed load of 3387 lbs net of the non-ferrous aluminum/wire/copper/brass.View attachment 2048526View attachment 2048527View attachment 2048528View attachment 2048522View attachment 2048523View attachment 2048524

So there's still a monel water tank to be processed/tested/sold price can very from $ 2.00-5.00 a pound.
Misc irony alum, bits and pieces that were missed. But most of it was cleaned up and recycled into $$$.
Even the bits and pieces of iron that accumulated for a decade got the toss.

Over the years folks have done the :icon_scratch::dontknow:"What are you going to do with it all"
Basically not really seeing the scrap=$ side of the trade/industry.
Granted it's easier in life to just throw it in garbage, recycling bin at the landfill-carry on.
My thinking is yes a mess, my mess, don't worry about mine & I fret not about yours.
Total was $5654.03 :headbang::hello2::occasion14:
My first post up was on the Random Chat thread.
I stated my goal was to buy a new detector.
My thinking is now I have enough left over for a dinner out with the Mrs.

Update:
Transferred the funds yesterday for the Deus ll. 9" coil, WS6/Bh-01 headphones :headbang:
$2300.00 Can. all in shipped to the door (currency difference + 13% taxes makes the detectors a tad pricey)

The Mrs saw the transfer paperwork-"Gee they're sure going up in price-Aren't they? :laughing7::dontknow:
So there's $3700.00 left over in the scrap budget for that dinner out. :hello2:
(Just have to put things into perspective.)

I have a pile also but not as big as yours lol I don't throw much away until its usefulness ends. I just hauled a complete steel VersaTube carport structure 14" x 24' feet home I'll find a place for it. Also 60 sheets of steel roofing 22' feet long I have a use for the roofing.

I always think can I use it, project, future.
Then reality starts to show, and the clean up starts.

Well thus scrap pile was a thought and a wish it was to have a new toy of a :metaldetector:.

Well today it was fulfilled and now it's a reality. :headbang::hello2::notworthy::icon_thumleft::icon_thumright:

A tad late for a reply.
I often will get something for a future project.

They were redoing the town hall just at the end of my street.
Asked the contractor what he was doing with hte roofing sheets-have to take them to the scrap yard. (Grumble)
How about $$$ and I'll drop the car hauler off-he was all :hello2:
The sheeting works well for covering up lumber/timbers.
