DFX or XLT?

I've narrowed down my choices for a new detector, either the DFX or the XLT, is the DFX worth the extra money? I would like to get your opinions from some one who owns both or has had experience with both of these machines. Also, What upgrades do the E series have over the older models?
Please give me the negatives and positives for both machines, and the easiest one to learn on.
Thanks a bunch in advance.

I use the XLT myself and have a friend who uses the DFX, the DFX has a dual frequency which helps in detecting nickels. The XLT does have some difficulty in detecting nickels, but i do dig up nickels now and then with the XLT. It seems other than that the difference is somewhat minimal. Both detectors are excellent in my opinion.

I have owned both and both are great detectors. If you plan to hunt wet sand at the beach the DFX is the way to go. The duel frequency on the DFX is also better at separating the good from the bad targets. I do not think there is much difference in depth. If you can afford the extra cash get the DFX. you will want it if you do not get it. I have owned two XLTs and have sold both of them and now own the DFX.

If you have the cash go fo rthe DFX. I am new to the hobby and enjoy mine very much. Besides, though the XLT is a good machine, sooner or later you may find yourself wondering if you should have spent a bit more for the DFX. However, I'd say that once having bought a DFX the chances of buyers remourse are considerably lower....so it's logical. :D

i have never used the XLT, but i love my DFX.? if you go with the DFX, make sure you buy a copy of jeff's diggind deeper -- you'll be glad you did.

I used to own an XLT but sold it about 3 years ago. I got a DFX in March and can't believe the difference in what I have found. The XLT has been around for a while now, why would you want old technology, unless money is the deciding factor.
