I would think all the coils that are set up for your particular detector would show the same depth on the meter or very close to it. Granted a smaller coil won't detect as deep as a larger coil, but if both can "see" the target both should report the depth the same if each coil has been ground balanced properly.

For the most part the depth meter is only a guide. My 4x6 DD Shooter is about as accurate as the stock 9.5, my 6x10 DD and my super 12.

mine are all very accurate with the exception of the super 12.
with my 12, I had a piece of copper wire about 6 inches long, 12 gauge ring up at 10 inches,
it was closer to 13 inches, but that may have been the way it was in the ground.
all I can say is, the rest of my coils are almost dead on

In general, the depth is only accurate with the stock coil. It is very accurate with the stock coil. However with other coils the reading on the screen may not be accurate but is usually relative to the depth. In other words, if when using a non-stock coil you get a depth reading of 3 inches and dig the target and find that it is actually at 5" then other similar targets that are 5" deep will read 3 inches on the screen. ???

Thank's Guys this was what I was thinking also, I Guess I will have to wait for the big freeze to leave and do some more testing in the Garden. I got the Eclipse 5.3 and haven't had a chance to use it since the weather moved in.
