Has anyone used the Dues in salt water/surf and wet sand? Your results and a good program for it or the stock beach ones ok. They say the coil is water proof but the two brass terminals for charging are exposed. I was wondering if it could short out.

Use of beach mode GB is recommended in the surf/wet sand combined with any custom program you feel appropriate. As far as the battery charging terminals are concerned, they are far enough apart that shorting in salt water should not be an issue, but long term exposure could result in corrosion of the terminals over time which could eventually preclude charging. People who do repeated Salt Water hunting have learned to cover the terminals with a strip of electrical tape to stem the corrosion damage while water hunting.

I am new to the Deus and had it 2 weeks. My other md is ATPro there is night and day difference between them. I like the tape idea for the salt water. I am only using the loaded programs to learn the machine. From using it all I can say I have been digging deeper than before with good results. Today 2 silver rings, change and older beaver tail tabs.

Good. Keep at it and when you become more familiar and comfortable with the Deus, take the plunge to make your own custom programs. You can try some of the ones posted in the new sticky thread up top of this forum.

You could probably coat the terminals in a small layer of grease like marine grease or a waxy grease that may inhibit corrosion a bit more than electrical tape which may end up with salt water under it anyways. Just an idea.

Agree it would be better protection, but not sure how constantly removing the grease residue would affect the ease of repeated charging (vs. just peeling back or replacing a tape strip). Is that something you do with good results?
