Have you taken the coil cover off and checked for dirt and grime under it ?

I have not done either one of these but I can tell you that its almost certainly not the coil, its not squirrely in that sense, just that the numbers have changed... for the target ID. I've used digital machines for 20+ years and never had this happen...

I'm going to try a software upgrade to see if that fixes the problem

Please keep us posted

Did you clean the coil under the cover?

I found Deus easier than Minelabs.

Then again download speed helps now.
Though it all seems confusing to the consumer, but so easy for the designers.

I haven't yet I'm waiting for a cable to update the software and see if that fixes it.
I've been detecting for 40+ years and know what dirt in the coil sounds like, just saying...
That being said, something with the electronics started acting up about 6 month ago when the sound through the speakers suddenly stopped (almost stopped but you can just barely hear it) (I just switched to headphones) and then about a month ago suddenly the numeric display changed the number value of targets.. a Quarter was 97-98 now its 55-56, a dime was 96-97 now its 54-55, pennies were 94-96 and now they are 49-50 ...
This isn't a dirty coil issue its a software electronics issue...
Probably my fault as I'm brutal on my machines 🤣

Ok sooo after buying the cable that I used to have but couldn't find... I did the software upgrade and I lost ALL my saved programs 😭 Did it do what I wanted ? NO, it does seem that I have the VOLUME back at least to some extent.. so I can hunt without headphones again, but it did NOTHING for the issue I was having with the numbers thing.... maybe made it worse.. I don't know the numbers before but now my LARGE mens gold wedding band reads a solid 7. On my DEUS II it reads a 70 ? quarters still read in the 50's and nothing I swiped read any higher than 60. I have these IRON coins from Brazil I brought back so I could set up something with them and they all read like in the 50s too like they are good metal, I even took a magnet to them to make sure and they are still IRON..
SO next I will clean the coil, but I'm sure that's not the problem. I think I have to send it in for repairs or just buy me another DEUS I box...
I specifically use the DEUS I with elliptical coil for small gold in playgrounds so I want to keep this as my goto machine for that..
I will breakout some small gold I have here and see what kind of numbers it gives me...
It's almost like it folded the number system in half and started reading everything at half their NORMAL number reading... before this happened, a nickel was 86, so I know my gold ring would have been higher than that... at maybe
90 ? because of its size, 90s was the pull-tab range.. of course..
It's just so weird

I take it you don't have the wireless headset for comparison with the remote?

If you are determined not to send it in for repairs and feel comfortable doing so, it might behoove you to remove the back and check the circuit board in the remote for corrosion bridging the solder traces. I would also check the voltage of the Li-Ion cell to make sure it's where it should be (3.7v). Lastly your coil could be an issue (battery or otherwise). Do you have a second one available to pair and compare?

These all sound good, but I don't have the skills for this.. and I don't have a different coil .. So I either live with or send it in ha ha ha

WOW FN WOW..
I did the test with the wireless headphones and the numbers are the same, so it is in the coil !!
OH MY GOODNESS !
