Hello everyone,
I'm considering a Deus 2. I've been using a Minelab 800 for several years now and want to upgrade. I tried a 900 but didn't at all like the way the target ID bounced all over the place compared to the 800. I'm wondering if the Deus 2 does the same thing and also how it might compare with the Manticore which i'm also considering .
Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!!

It depends on the level of stink. Showered in worse.
Was going to use the Mandy in the back one day while staying on Tioman Island.
Opened the door and one of these guys was having a bath.

Just close the door when you're finished. 🤣

Not sure where the shower comments are going :)
But I'll come back to @tinner and his original question from last summer.
Maybe you already bought the Manticore (I see that in your signature), but I'll still offer my thoughts for others who may be considering similar choices.

I have an Equinox 800, and I liked that detector for "park" and "beach" detecting, which means to me that I'm looking for targets that I can identify from the signals (numbers and sounds) but those targets are isolated/alone - NOT mixed in with iron.

I bought a Deus 1 to use at old homesites (Colonial / 1800s sites) that are often infested with iron, and I was very impressed with the Deus 1's ability to separate good targets from iron. But I found the Deus 1 target IDs to be less reliable.
And then they introduced the Deus 2, so I sold my Deus 1 and got a Deus 2. I have been using that Deus 2 ever since, and I love it.
The reasons I love the Deus 2:
- lighter weight than the Equinox
- Better iron separation than the Equinox
- Better small target acquisition (I might call this "more sensitive", but that's not the right term really).
- more configurable via the menus than the Equinox (like different volume settings for different ID # ranges). But see my comment about learning curve below.
- Target information that allows me to guess a likely ID for the target that is similar to the Equinox
- the Deus 2 is fully waterproof and allows me to use it diving. (I have done this only 3-4 times on vacation down in Florida, but it works well. Found 2 rings while diving with the Deus 2).

I have not considered the Manticore, but I believe it's a great detector from the unbiased feedback I've seen from real users. I just personally don't need that detector because the Deus 2 works well for me in all situations.
BUT - the Deus line (1 and 2) have menus that are less intuitive than the Minelab machines. @tinner if you like the menu of the Equinox and you are someone who adjusts a lot of settings frequently, know that you will have a learning curve with the Deus 2.

Good luck with your decision - or let us know what you decided and why please!

- Brian
