Hello everyone,
I'm considering a Deus 2. I've been using a Minelab 800 for several years now and want to upgrade. I tried a 900 but didn't at all like the way the target ID bounced all over the place compared to the 800. I'm wondering if the Deus 2 does the same thing and also how it might compare with the Manticore which i'm also considering .
Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!!

I've been with the Deus 2 for awhile now. I really got used to it. The big problem is that I have to go over all of my old sites and pick up what I missed with all the other detectors! I usually use it wide open and go really slow in a circular motion in high iron areas. It's a really fun detector

The D2 will bounce too, as many others with a long numbering system. I actually find that useful as many good target don't bounce. I find it curious that Bucket Lister liked the "completely wireless" D2 system as being easier. I found it annoying when it came to water hunting. You then had to add a hokey wire setup to get it to work. Also, the coil batteries don't have the greatest life. If you hunt all day, better bring a charger with you. The octopus charging cable for all three components is more of a pain to me than the Minelab idea. Coils are more expensive on the D2 compared with Equinox and Manticore, and there are more options with the Minelab detectors. Don't even get me started on that goofy menu tree.
I jump back and forth… but mostly the Minelabs

Thanks Cudamark, are you familier with the Manticore? If so is the Menu configuration anything like the Equinox?
The menu on the Manticore is easier to navigate than the Nox 900.

Is there a special charging clip for the deus 2 controler
Just the "octopus" charging cable that comes with it.

I find that people are equally satisfied with Deus II or Manticore. Given the Deus II comes out to be a bit cheaper and has greater waterproofing depth, not to mention a longer manufacturer warranty, Deus may win by a smidge.

I have the DEUS I and DEUS II and there is a special charging clip for the coils, it can be a pain to try to get it to clip on just right to start charging, the other parts are standard ports and connect easily.
For underwater use, you have an additional cable that you must attach because the DEUS I and 2 are Wireless, and it can't transmit the signals underwater, it's a pretty straight forward setup though..
I don't use my DEUS II underwater, so I don't have that wire connected..

I don't have a Monticore, but I have been hunting almost 40+ years, and I'm thinking the DEUS II is the best machine I've ever had when it comes to picking coins out of heavy iron areas, My hunting partner has a NOX 800 and I consistently walk circles around him for wheats and small silver.. He gets a lot of the Big silver, but I'm sure I would pick that up if I had walked over it.. I can hear by the way a target sounds and how "sweet" it sounds, weather its going to be a coin or not..

Anybody and I mean anybody that's swung them both can't say the ML swings better and is more comfortable then a Deus :nono:
You might swing 1 day that long with a ML but not daily like you could with a Deus. The best is how easy it breaks down, stow it in the backpack, jump on the bike and on to the next site. Both are great but these things make a Deus my choice. GL & HH

I have swung a Minelab SE, Etrac, CTX 3030 for 10 hrs a day for 6.5-13.5 days straight.
One thing for sure the Deus 1&2 are feathers compared to the boat anchors.

If the site is target rich it really doesn't matter what is on the arm really. Lots of breaks digging targets.

But swinging a detector for hours on end digging only a couple of targets a hour can be tiring.
That's where the Deus starts to shine.

I will say the DEUS II is easy to break down and will fit in a carry-on bag, as I travel a LOT and carry it with me wherever I go.. I have NEVER had an issue going through TSA either so if someone is worried..
We recently got back from Brazil, no issues, we were in Spain in May 2023, No issues..
Oh and yeah, its very lightweight also, But it's heavier than the DEUS I
Just saying !

Did you use a different type charging plug for electric ?

Oh I think this new HF Elliptical coil that will cost me $500-600 will be a weight game changer.🤣

Standard USB plugs can be gotten anywhere, the only issue is the clip on for the coils, a real pain in the toosh !
And they ONLY come from XP DEUS, so if you don't have one, or lost yours or break yours... you are SOL to charge the coil !

I think I seen some place There is Adapter that screws into the back of the Deus 2 controller and then you just slip One of the standard charge cables into the the adapter. I also meant isn't there wall outlets round pins and not 2 flat pieces

Don't the other countries now use a different type wall plug in ?

Yes, It uses a 6-pin mini-DIN connector. I personally don't like it, but it hasn't given me any grief. Outside XP, an aftermarket replacement cable will be next to impossible to find. The D1 used a common USB Mini-B connector. Not waterproof but getting your hands on an individual charge cable outside XP was easy.

My personal opinion is they should have used wireless charging on the D2 remote instead of the DIN connector. It would maintain their IP68 waterproof standards and make a replacement cable/charger easy to find. It certainly wouldn't add any bulk to the remote. Modern cell phones (1/4 the thickness of the D2 remote) have wireless charging capability built in. I doubt wireless charging would interfere with the operation of the remote, but I'm not an electronics engineer. Something to ask XP?

Ahh yes my bad, it does screw into a port on the back I was thinking of the DEUS I, the DEUS II does this for waterproof purposes !! Sorry !

Every country or region uses a different electrical plug, this is used in Spain, and Brazil has something similar..
and don't forget that many countries, the power out is 220-240 instead of 110-120. Be careful out there with electricity..
