Hey all!! Found a nice '42 Merc today, nothing surprising in that...BUT, what is cool is that it was 14" down (Approximately). This is my deepest coin find in the 2 months I've been md'ing. Not bad depth for a 350...Nice LOUD hit too...I love finding treasure!!!

I am not accusing you of lying so dont take it the wrong way, but in 30 years of detecting I have never found a coin more than a foot down. Maybe its my area since 5" down are seated and barber dimes in some places. I have seen many detectors in action and NOT one of them could locate a coin 8" below except for my Etrac. It really could be the soil though but unless you see the dime in the hole, then you can verify that its 14". I have had signals on older detectors that read 10"+ that were really 1-2" but were incorrect due to another close iron signal (which was nulling out the machine but nonetheless still being detected). I have also had readings with my newer Whites models, that read 6"+ but were only 2-3" but a coin on edge. BUT seriously, if you did find that, thats awesome and dont get rid of that machine ever. Not many machines can do that

I wasn't implying anything, I just said I had never heard of a coin being found at that depth. Good for you, in my area 7 inches is a deep coin. I wasn't trying to be a smartass.

CM, I am sorry. I have had another member here kinda' trolling me a bit and I was fresh off of dealing with him as I was replying to you. I was truly just asking if you were trying to call me a liar, because another member did and I was a little surprised. Sometimes I wish computers had a "tone of voice" mode. Thank you for letting me know you weren't being sacastic, very nice of you.

I am starting to get the impression it's best to leave out certain details as to coin finds (such as depth), haha!! I have another member flat out calling me a liar because he doesn't think my machine has the possibility of finding a coin that deep. I even said early on in this thread that the rain helped me out a bit.

Well, I hope it wasn't a situation were the coin fell back down into the hole as I digging. I'd like to think that I'm getting better at hunting. I spend alot of my free time hunting and I find alot of really good things, I just don't post all of them. I love this hobby and it's been great learning/fidning treasure.

It's cool, you can have your opinion. I am well aware of the fact that a coin hit that far down with many machines isn't done too often. Like I said early, I had a lucky day. Isn't it what it's partly about when it comes to hunting...luck? I also explained in a few earlier posts that I could be off a bit due to the fact that I had to use my Lesche blade as a measuring device. The coin was a little over 1 1/2 blade lengths. I should have just put it was between 12-14" to avoid alot of this. I am 100% positive it was at least 1 foot down when I plucked it out. Whether or not it was a foot down because that's where it was or because it fell back into the hole as I was digging...just glad I found it. Could have been many things/factors. Thanks for giving me some info. I am very new to this hobby and learning as much as I can...

Thats a great machine getting that depth. You may have super clean soil which I wish I had

I'm in NE Pa. My area has many different kinds of soil...

i found one about 10 inches down today so its definitley plausable

Really? We are kind of close then. I am right off 84

I know the Huson valley area. I live in the Pocono region. I have literally dug through 2-3 different soil types as I dig, depending on the area. I tend to find my area has alot of red clay in the soil. Turns the coins all different colors. There are many types and some make for a hard time.

I know the Poconos well. I go to Mt Airy a lot and also out by Wilkes Barre. I am planning a vacation this summer at Lake Wallenpaupack

Way to go Eddie.....Nice find!

Yup...Another member here flat out called me a liar. Said it couldn't be done....

I've never even heard of a coin being pulled from that deep, let alone a dime, and with a low end detector.
I pulled a 1723 Spanish pistareen with a Fisher F2 at around 12 inches. I was using a hand garden trowel for my field hunting at the time. Can't get much lower end than that.

Yup, that member was me. Funny thing, when I mentioned that it fell deeper into the hole as you were digging, I did not get a thank you. Very funny, haha. Funnier, as I go back to look at that post and check the timestamp, I guess one of you complained about my honesty and had my posts removed....

Oh well, at the end of the day, I really shouldn't argue this at all. The more Ace users there are, the more silver is left behind for me.

From now on, I will just tell all people that the ace is a deep seeker.

And to anyone claiming 14" and deeper on dime sized targets with a regular machine, please post some videos, I would love to see them. Honestly.

Kinda hard to make a video showing a 14 inch dime dig when you dont know its at 14 inches...duh....

Dude, stop trolling me. You're ****ing pathetic...trolling newbies, pffft. You didn't get a "thank you" because you flat out called me a LIAR. Go try a tear down someone else. Found a REAL nice 1825 Bust Dime today. Guess I didn't really find that, eh?

It's a shame this place censored me when I told you off. Went back to see what you had to say and all my replies were deleted. Go away loser...

I only found 5 bucks in glad and some old hippy sun glasses lol ;)
