On the DFX or MXT is there a difference in depth or identifying between the D-2 and the 12" super coil? Which works better? And where does each work better?
Thanks

I didn't care that much for the D2 coil on the DFX and preferred the Detech 10X12 SEF. I have a Super 12 coil that came with my MXT 300 that has yet to feel the ground. I would sell it, if you are interested send me a PM.

I've never used that coil on the DFX but on the MXT it's as deep a coil as any I've used, I don't get any more depth from the Detect 13" coil in the field. It is very prone to EMI though, the super 12 coil is good on depth but you need to have very clean ground as any close iron or other metal will mask targets pretty easy. If you were digging all targets like relic hunting civil war grounds it would be fine, but the D2 will pick targets out pretty close together. I've heard a lot of people say they didn't care for the D2 on the DFX though, this might be because of the EMI interference though but if you have a very deep sensitive coil its going to pick up more interference. You might ask someone about the Detect ultimate 13" coil on the DFX, its not good for detecting in the woods though because of the size and the open area's in the coil would snag up bad on sticks, it would be great for coving ground in open parks. HH

Both coils are about the same for depth for me. The D2 gets the nod in trashy areas but does have trouble with EMI. If the grounds clean the 12" is deep and pinpoints well. Both
coils aren't light weights though and can get heavy after a few hours.

Try running the At Pro with a 15 inch Nel Coil, the DFX and D-2 are a breeze. I use harnesses on both machines it takes the weight off alot

The Detect 13" coil is big but doesn't seem that heavy the me, not sure what the weight is compared to the D2 coil though. HH

I run the D2 most of the time in parks. The 300 is heavy and clumsy in comparison. I believe they get about the same depth. Pinpointing with the D2 is spot on and it has excellent separation.

The D2 gets no where near the depth of the 12" at a cost;
D2- Better coverage at depth, better separation, loves bottle caps(come up as quarters), vdi's slightly off.
12"-Way deeper, must overlap more the deeper you go, better shallow coverage, no good in trash.
The typical concentric vs dd argument. I always went back to my stock 950 coil, simply the best all around coil for said machine. Mike

It might depend on what detector you have that coil on as well, I find on my MXT that the D2 is as deep as the super12. The D2 is a very sensitive coil that's why its bad on picking up EMI but without that sensitivity you wouldn't get the depth it does I can get dimes all day at 10"+ with some being at a full 12" before, this isn't the depth the detector is telling me its actual depth. The MXT just likes the MXT though so I can't say what it would be like on the DFX, I've detected with a guy that has a V3i and he can match that depth. The super 12 does need real clean ground to see those real deep targets though, that's why I don't have it anymore as where I almost always detect its not clean enough ground for the super12.
