I found one of these things once, near a CW area, but in the bottom of a river bed. Any ideas?

I tossed mine out cause I thought it was pure crap. It felt too light for CW era. Like it was made of aluminum, which I know was more expensive than gold during that time.

I was thinking the same thing.

Yep, I looked it up. His must be heavier, and made of iron. Mine was either so heavily corroded or it's something else. I think I FINALLY found something linked to that conflict. My goodness it's not an easy thing to do these days.

Looks like the back end of a spike bayonet to me too! Monty

What you have circled is Most CERTAINLY a bayonet socket...but I know of no CW relics that were made of aluminum. So I don't think that could possibly be what you found.

Yes definitely a bayonet socket.
Nice spur part, scabbard tip?, looks like a CW gun tool there. Is that a top of a canteen?

Spread them out or make a few more pictures.

It's not his photo of his finds--it's an example. Notice the eBay camera in the lower right hand corner?
