3 Stooges headed for the fields on a treasure hunt that went for 3 days straight. I must say I am beat, I invited Newt and Wilson 220 up for a few days of Hill Billy hunting. We hit many sites, some rehunts and some new. It was a great time and was good to see friends that I hadn't seen in 3 years.
Where to begin? I've lost track of the days and what was found when. One day I won't forget was my first Capped Bust, and a short while later my second Half Cent, and later in the day... my first Grooved Axe. Newt dug a Sword Handle, we would like a little help with this find if anyone recognizes it. Check out the finds and happy digging to all.

Some variety of CW-era musician's sword it is. :hello2: Good Lord, that's a nice find. How's this for a photo?

P.S.--be sure to check any piece of brass you dug in that site. There's more of the knuckle bow from that sword out there somewhere.

I spent hours looking for that sword handle and finally found something that looked close. I take it you agree with my ID. :headbang:

I most certainly agree. Well done, H. :headbang:

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. HB was very kind to invite us up and to spend his weekend ferrying us around.
Thanks again HB,
Newt

Wow. all kinds of very nice digs. A lot of everything. Can't wait for my first silver or an ancestors rock tool

Blows my mill site rehunt out of the water! That's the kind of day we all wish for. That 1/2 dime is beautiful! Nice relics too. Guess I need to find 2 more 1/2 cents now.

Pretty Selfish of you all not to leave anything in Kentucky. ::)

I might want to detect in that state sometime. :'(

;D ;D

Holy cow, that's some great huntin'! :o And sounds like you had some pretty good company too. :icon_thumright: Congrats on all those finds!

Nana :)

I'm one up on you now, better get busy.

HB, you guys sure tore up the old homestead with Indian artifacts as well. That's the largest quantity of stirrups, reign guides, and horse/mule equipment that I've seen posted in a long time. Nice coin and sword handle. We all have a limited amount of time until crops prevent any future hunting until hay is cut. Great finds Buddy, Quindy.
If you and BB have time, please check the "What is it?" forum and see if you recognize the relic that I dug at a 1700s home yesterday. Thanks, Q.

Wow HB, you guys had a great hunt, all those relics, and some great coins to boot, but the icing on the cake are the Indian artifacts! What a complete, successful time out together the "3 Stooges" :D had! Congrats to all....

Don

Wow.. :thumbsup:I'm speech less nice hunt.

Holy crappe'!!! OUTSTANDING relics :laughing9:
Way to go! :hello2:

Hey HB, that's some nice hunting. The sword handle is neat.

Congratulations on your first Bust coin.

From my experience the half cent is harder to come by in these parts.

Nothing like hunting the open easy fields and finding the flint.

This is a great hobby. Yall have a good one.

Thanks for your reply Quindy, we hauled alot of iron off those sites I know that. The sword handle is a great find in my book. The farmers are getting ready now around here, 2 weeks and it will be over around here, plus the grasses are already getting to deep to swing in. I will check out your whatsit.

Good to hear from you Don, i'm going out this AM to hunt a new spot, hopefully it produces...otherwise I'm going to go look for more artifacts. We had alot of rain 2 days ago and more coming today, should be signs of flint everywhere.
