Wow. I'm still in lala land after finding this. I'm at Diggin In Virginia and it was a long, tiresome day of digging a ton of iron and a few bullets. Around 2 I headed to another field where I had previously found my US box plate. On my way through the first field I picked up a small mule shoe that someone dug and left beside the hole. This must have been my lucky horse shoe because about 2 hours after that I had a beautiful CS confederate tongue at about 6 inches down.

I knew it was a tongue when I pulled it out, but was floored to see CS staring back at me. It was a lot of hard work up to that point but it paid off big time. This just made my year. Thanks for looking and HH!

Hey Mark, did you go to this hunt?

You couldn't wash the smile off my face with soap if that was mine! You've been posting some incredible finds, but that has to be my favorite. What a beautiful patina.

Good job Matt. That Spillman farm has been hunted hard, and finding that beauty with an F75 is a nice accomplishment. I found a CS wreath at Brandy Rock with an F75.

No wreath today. Got snowed out. May try one more time to find it.
Hope it clears out for you so you can find that wreath! No snow today down here, just big fat cold raindrops all day.

It's a little difficult, but I can get around 9 inches in the soil with bullets and of course deep iron sounds good.

Nice find Matt! The second days looking worse!!! I'm in the truck this is too much for a south ga fellow to hunt in!!! Good luck to everyone whose tough enough to hunt in this.

Oh it was awful today. The red dirt is bad enough, but when its wet red dirt its even worse!

That is in amazing shape. Love the deep patina. Congrats on your soon to be banner find!

Thank you. That red dirt leaves such great patina on brass. It almost makes you wanna save shotgun shells because the patina is so nice on those as well LOL.

Ya know the old saying, "been there-done that". Well I haven't, but wish I had and hope I do.
Congrats on such a great find.

Congrats on such a great find.

Haha. This is probably a once in a lifetime for sure. Let's hope not though!

great find, hope you find the other half. Congrats! I would retire from detecting if I find one of those, just kidding.

Praise the Lord!! Such rich, emerald green patina. Don't think about doing anything to damage that color. Really glad for you.

Grats!!!! super nice find find. Love when folks show their finds especially ones like this.

No way. I learned the hard way early on what water and cleaning things do to copper and brass.

Yeah right! Finds like these keeps us going!

AWESOME find Matt, that is BANNER MATERIAL right there CONGRATS my vote is in

Way to go great find!

Congrats on the Banner, may there be many more.

Congrats on making Banner Matt. The F75 did well in that hot soil. It's hard to hunt the Culpeper iron belt. I speak from experience. HH, Q.
