Greetings TNetters! I dug a few new parks in a city about an hour from my house. They were new-to-me and loaded me down with clad, for which I am thankful. (About $12.00 worth!) A grassy area next to a basketball court gave up the cool alloy-metal cross still on the pukka shell necklace. Haven't seen one of those since I used to wear one in the late 1970's!

On the way back home, I stopped in to a local school playground in the late afternoon. I dug up the "Half a BFF heart" pendant, and while trolling the bark in the tot lot, I swung under a tree and got a solid, repeating 63 VDI on the ATPro. I looked down to see a glint of golden yellow hiding in the bark. Inspection revealed a really pretty, wide but thin, gold band. It is marked on the inside in block Roman (?) letters, "Solid (Maltese Cross) Gold." It weighed in at an exact 3 grams. It looks like a small wedding band.

If any of my esteemed TNet friends could explain the hallmark to me, It would be much appreciated. It kind of looks like a very old hallmark or one made to look like it is old? Thanks for looking, I wish you all happy hunting this weekend! Sub 8-)

Great job sub!!!!!!Good to see good people making great finds!!!!!!

That is the first time I have seen a ring marked solid gold. Congrats!

great find! dig the lows. Be excellent.

I have only seen solid gold once. It was 14K. Hope yours is that or higher. Very nice old ring congrats

2017 must be your "Year of Gold", Sub...........congrats and keep the prospecting vibes goin'!!

Interesting, I've never seen a ring marked "solid gold", my thought would be 24k, which I understand would be to soft for a ring, but there it is marked inside yours, a heart stopper! If you test it for purity, I would sure like to know. That is a great find.

The color is off for 24K. This is a very old marking. Any gold 10K and over was considered gold in the USA. Not pure gold. Solid Gold. I also would like to know what he snagged. Hope he can have it tested and give us an update.

Congratulations, that's a nice looking ring! :icon_thumright:

Well done Lance!

I hope that ring turns out to be 14K or higher. It looks good in the pic!

Best of luck to you!

Nice digs sub, my fingers are crossed that that test's out to be real.

Congrats on the Gold ring and your other find. Nothing sweeter than hearing a mid tone and seeing yellow.
