Greetings TNetters! I dug a few new parks in a city about an hour from my house. They were new-to-me and loaded me down with clad, for which I am thankful. (About $12.00 worth!) A grassy area next to a basketball court gave up the cool alloy-metal cross still on the pukka shell necklace. Haven't seen one of those since I used to wear one in the late 1970's!

On the way back home, I stopped in to a local school playground in the late afternoon. I dug up the "Half a BFF heart" pendant, and while trolling the bark in the tot lot, I swung under a tree and got a solid, repeating 63 VDI on the ATPro. I looked down to see a glint of golden yellow hiding in the bark. Inspection revealed a really pretty, wide but thin, gold band. It is marked on the inside in block Roman (?) letters, "Solid (Maltese Cross) Gold." It weighed in at an exact 3 grams. It looks like a small wedding band.

If any of my esteemed TNet friends could explain the hallmark to me, It would be much appreciated. It kind of looks like a very old hallmark or one made to look like it is old? Thanks for looking, I wish you all happy hunting this weekend! Sub 8-)

Thank you my friends for the kind words. We use the services of a trusted jeweler and will let ya'all know what we find out! Sub 8-)

Sure a nice ring found out they was some mark solid gold in the 1800 century . Good luck.

The ring is most likely old. I've seen the "solid gold" markings before. There was an old time ad that I think it was for 8 k or 9k but I'm not too sure though. Been a while.

Nice ring buddy, that is some good lookin' gold! Congratulations!

Great hunt, congratulations on the gold and clad! :occasion14:

Great stuff! Nice ring! I'm heading out the door now after months of hibernation......hopefully will find a little yellow stuff myself! Thanks for sharing your days finds

Almost looks copperish, maybe the lighting.
Hope it turns out to be legit.

GOLD
Sorry I always get loud around gold. You of all people I would think would have an acid tester. Very cheap on eBay and Amazon. Not hard to use either. Congrats on your streak I love finding gold, can't wait until summer water hunting.

Update...our jeweler tested the band today. He said it was 10 karat, so good news! He could not advise on the age or origin of the ring, so I will go with the consensus of my fellow TNetters, i.e., probably a Victorian Era ring. Happy Hunting to all, Sub 8-)
