CRISPINS CRITTERS

Y'all remember "Kasey Kassem Top 40 Countdown?"

On every Sunday, 9-12.
Three hours in the morning to get the household chores done while Mom is out doing laundry and grocery shopping.
(Yes, we were so poor that we couldn't afford a washer, let alone a dryer)

Anyway, I believe y'all might have first heard this on the top 40 countdown.....

I was there.
Hell uva battle...
I got scars...

Best,

Scott

Cat,
You mean, "Whisperin' Bill?"
OMG!
I thought that I was the last of the fans!

One of my Pop's favorite recording artists.
Yes, I was weaned on 50's country but rebelled to the 60's pop/British takeover.

Great period to have been there.

Best,

Scott

My parents were considerably older than me. So yeah,
been there, done that!
You were talkin about laying in bed with the radio under the pillow.... I always read at night, so I had a book and a flashlight.
But I always had the radio set for the Dark Shadow plays, was it, with the creeking door sound effects...... wait.....
oh god! I'm starting to sound acient! :laughing7: That's all I need, some young t-netter asking me,
if I was around during dial phones or talkies! LOL!

Here it is, again, in the middle of the night,
when I do my best work. 8-)

I leave my Friends tonight with this selection, "In Search of the Lost Chord,"
While I now search for my "lost chord" and try to
determine what classes are available when....:icon_scratch:

Sheesh....

Y'all have a great weekend and I believe I'm gonna get me a bag
of raw peanuts, 5 or 10 pounds, and boil 'em up Cajun!
Y'all feel me?

Come and get a cup or two full.

They go great with beer and football!

Best,

Scott

My,

It seems quiet when I am posting....

Should I post less?
Should I not post at all?
Should I just kick rocks?

What should I know that I don't?

Best,

Scott

PS.

I'm looking for a picture of some Thanksgiving treats that I make with 'Nilla wafers, malted milk balls, colored icing, and, well, a picture is worth a thousand words, or so I've heard taught....

I'll post a pic when I find the old timey "hard copy" actual photographic print.

Gettin' old is a trip ain't it?

Bill,
No doubt your ceviche recipe produces a great tasting result, but if I asked my wife to prepare it, I cringe at any 'quid pro quo' she might ask of me.
Don..

Don,

Actually the first time I had something similar was about 30 years ago in Freeport, Bahamas on vacation.

We took a stroll along the wharf and a local guy was selling something he called conch salad...conch is a basically a big sea
snail that he chopped up put in a baggie and added lime juice, some chopped up onion and jalepeno peppers....it was tasty so I never stopped liking that type of stuff.

Effectively the lime juice cooks the fish/seafood due to the high acid content.

You could also try it with shrimp, scallops, etc.....you don't need to do the fancy recipe per above....a couple of hours in the fridge.....I tend to drain off quite a bit of the juice prior to serving and add some olive oil to take the edge off.

Regards + HH

Bill

Bill,
Memories: My first experience with ceviche was in a little place called Yelapa, just south of Puerto Vallarte, MX--in 1963--when the main transportation was riding in a bus with people carrying fish and chickens. (The same year, I believe, that Night of the Iguana with Eliz. Taylor and Richard Burton was filmed in PV). I remember the experience only because I caught 'the revenge' from that meal and suffered all the way back to LA.
Don....

Nah, you keepem coming my friend!

Scott,

You broke the ice on Bill Anderson. Here's my favorite from him....

Back in the early 60's my Dad watched his show, and then before I went to the war, this song was out. A very sentimental memory thing, and a point where all things changed for me.

Scott got me remembering.... This has been posted here, by me and probably others. But let's throw it up again

Remember our vets from pushing 50 years ago, 42 for me when I came home. And remember our vets today. We should never forget.

This was posted recently, but not with the video here. We witnessed too much of this. Those of us there will never forget. We don't need sympathy, we need to apply it to tomorrow.
