CRISPINS CRITTERS

Hey gordon

My locksmith Friend and I got that big bank job! :hello2:

25 safe deposit box locks!
Open, replace the locks with their "guard" key ability and perhaps a new source for acquisition of halves, Ikes and ones!

The job is to be after the first of the year which will give me time to brush up on opening them in mere seconds after pulling the "nose."

---------------------------------------

(Also from a previous post on another thread....)

Was at my Friend's Locksmith shop this morning.

Had just finished making a set of keys for a forklift ignition and was working on some keys for a 67 Corvette.

My Friend called and said, "Today is the safety deposit box at the bank. At noon."

So,
Today on "Scott's Locks,"
We will explore safety deposit box locks.

The last time I described safety deposit box locks,
it was a Mosler 5700 Series.

Not this time.
This time it was a Sargent and Greenleaf 4500 series.
Completely different works.....

As you may remember,
The Mosler had alternating fingers for the "guard key" (held by the bank) and the renter all in the same "stack."

Mosler 5700

OK.
I got this.

First, I used the nose puller on the renter side...

Once I had the "stub" pulled,

I put the bank's guard key in, turned it and manipulated the renter side fingers to clear the bolt.
On an S&G, the "fingers" are on their own "stack."

Here the guard fingers are still in place, on the right.

Here I've removed the guard fingers to show that the fingers on the renter side merely need to be pushed down out of the
way and the bolt retracts.
Took about 3-5 seconds once I had pulled the nose on the renter side.

We already had found a new compatible lock with changeable guard key side.
I adjusted the lock to accept the bank's guard key, installed the lock on the door and started picking up tools.

I stamped the box number on the two renter's keys and handed them to the Gentleman.

My Friend took care of the paperwork while I headed back outside to drink the rest of my coffee before it got cold.

Got back to the shop and finished the keys for the Corvette.

Hope all have a Great Weekend!

Best,

Scott

Ideas that you may write about today that may seem to be worthless...

But later?

I love old books and the archaic vocabulary!
The study of words and origins, known as Etymology.
Not to be confused with Entomology.....
What a fine distinction between the two....

What a difference!

Or, to put it simply,
Etymology vs entomology. Words or bugs.

Yes, I know of these subjects and more.....mostly self taught....And I have "old books."
Some, quite valuable....First editions, signed and such....

The day that we cease to learn is the day someone will shovel dirt upon us.

Don't have dirt shoveled upon you!

LIVE!

And give!

Those that you have blessed will bless others!

What a miracle that this can provide to one who is in need!

I've just a few more blessings to give before Christmas....
And messages of forgiveness to those who have wronged me in the past....

How 'bout you?

Best,

Scott

This Tuesday, 15 years ago,

I saw my Mom draw her last breath....

If I could give her life once again...

No matter the cost, I'd pay....

Scott

Merry Christmas, my Friends!

And remember, as my Mom once told me.... to be a simple man....
Since the day she died, I fulfilled my promise to her of Graduating from College!

Though it's been rough, I've succeeded!

My Warmest Wishes,

Scott

A new mountaintop to explore?

Come along, my friends,
We have much to learn together....

Scott

And,
What plans for Christmas have you?

'Cause I remember the times and served with my Fellow Vets who were there....

Now, how shall I pack my Christmas ruck?

What meals are planned?
Shall I take a map and compass this time?

At my age, with an 80 pound ruck on my back and a gallon jug of water swapping hands as I hike and count steps.....
And a new mountain to climb at about a 45 degree slope,
what are Scott's chances of awakening on Christmas Morning giving Praise!~

Do the math!

So many questions...

So few answers..

Which way to go...

Come along quickly!

Time is so short!

The mountains yet to explore, the people yet to help....

Time..is so short...

Time...

What was your question again?

Hey Scott - I have a SITREP for everybody. A SITREP doesn't begin with " hey, I have something I want to tell you" hahaha!!! Looks like Christmas we will be on a cruise. I don't know all the ports yet, but I'm going back to Grand Turk...... might do me some diving....... I'm at peace when diving. All I think about is my breathing. It's a Zen experience for me.

If I can get my $hi# in one sock,
I will be a SITREP! :headbang:.....And watch your language, soldier!
Tango Uniform?
Really?

I love the coded acronyms!

Like Fubar, Idgaf, and the rare "Dilligaf!"

Best,

Scott

And it is just past 10:00.
Where is your best Friend?
When did you last talk to them?

Think I'll call my Friend/Brother in Kansas.
Do it and wish them a Christmas that is the best!
The intimate conversation is one that will always be remembered....

Merry Christmas, my Friends!

Scott

PS. My Mom was with me yesterday as she usually is on any given day.....
In Memory and Spirit....
