NOPE! ECS... check it out.Yes you were, you just confuse.
"Supposedly"...?I hope the story is true, my supposedly treasure vault is filling up fast! LOL
I have, but someone will state that I am wrong!NOPE! ECS... check it out.

Reread the above analysis that clearly shows this was written and published long after April 1865 and is nothing more than just another embellished treasure tall tale about "lost" Confederate gold, of which there are many.... let us examine what you claim is a Southern newspaper article from April 1865:
"Three dats before President Jefferson Davis left Richmond" (article had to be written after the Union occupied Richmond)
"Provost Marshall and high member of the KGC, Sam McCubbin" (he was not a Provost Marshall, why the KGC mention?)
"took $ * Million in gold specie by train" (Why publish this when the Union was in pursuit of Davis, Cabinet, and treasury?)
"out of Richmond to some point south" (This line give the Union clues on where to search, tantamount to treason to the CSA)
These are valid reasons to question the validity of this originating from a Southern newspaper from April 1865, and most likely the it appeared many years later as a treasure story article that referenced an alleged newspaper article from April 1865 to give the tale believability.
True, very true, even later then that.It appears that this $8 Million gold specie McCubbin story is just that, a story fabricated from minimal facts like so many tales that were printed in the pulp treasure magazines of the '50's- '60's.
Dunno...Rebel,the newspaper story is that true or not? I want it to be true?
The apparent conclusion is that there never was an April 1865 newspaper that had this article, but another fictional treasure story "based on 99% fact" pieced together to create this treasure story.I'd like to see that newspaper article to prove one way or the other...
The apparent conclusion is that there never was an April 1865 newspaper that had this article, but another fictional treasure story "based on 99% fact" pieced together to create this treasure story.
The facts found in the story:
Sam McCubbin and Jefferson Davis were actual people, and Davis did leave Richmond as well as a train containing gold and silver specie, jewelry, Confederate paper currency from the CSA treasury that headed south.
The fiction:
That a Southern newspaper of April 1865 actually would print such an article during Davis's flight and near the time of Lincoln's assassination, providing the direction of the train and the mention of the KGC- that just would not have happened during the time period.
Combine that with the FACT there exists NO collaboration for this $8 Million gold specie train departing 3 days before Davis and records do exist that Sam McCubbin was out rounding up Confederate deserters from Richmond during the claimed period.
"NUFF SAID!
As per your reply to me, Franklin, that you have stated many times on several threads. Turnabout is fair play, my friend.I could but I won't. Find it yourself. You seem to know how to do everything. Prove it.
