Good for you. I wouldn't have cleaned it that much.....if it is shining thats a bad thing. The natural patina out of the ground is what all the relic collectors want. Just get the dirt off.

That's how it came out of the ground I literally ran water over it, I didn't even use a toothbrush
 

Wow!!! I have never seen one come out like that. Was it lying on top of a rock that may have cut down the oxidation? The most beautiful gold color I've ever seen to come right out of the ground like that. Am glad for you.

You have a good site there. Don't tell anyone about it and keep hunting! Do you have any idea of how many troops were involved? Can you tell us if this was infantry or cavalry action?
