Just back from the gulf and had a great time! Not a lot of time for hunting, but did squeeze in an hour here and there. A couple of dollars in change and a thousand beer tops! :D Love to dig at the beach...sooooo easy! You peeps that live there are so lucky! I wanted so badly to get into the water, but didn't dare. The waves were pretty high this past week and I love my MXT. :P I gotta get me one of those water detectors soon! ;)
The kids loved the beach and Dillon thought the ocean was just a big bath tub! :D

I found a pirate ship right outside my balcony one morning!

Had to visit the amusement parks....

And the required visit to the putt-putt course where I always win! ;D NOT!

And have to put in a shameless plug for a couple of the best places to eat while in Gulf Shores... ;)

And the Oyster House....worth the two hour wait...

We always love to ride the ferry from Ft. Morgan to Dauphin Island.
Here's a couple of pictures of some of the many bunkers on Ft. Morgan...

While we waited on the ferry, I met a lady that lives there. She had lots of stories to tell and we touched on the subject of metal detecting and the Civil War. She runs to her car and brings out a newspaper article where the day before a funeral service was conducted for a soldier off the CSS ship! Here's the article and a couple of links that were very informative.

Loved the ride across. Always get to see the dolphins at play, but not nearly fast enough to catch them with the camera! :D

And my finds...meager but had lots of fun!

Very cool pics Nana Thanks for taking us along to the beach! Yes you have to get a water detector soon.
Great links to the Sailors funeral also...

Awesome post and fantastic pictures! Thanks for taking us along and HH, Mike

Looks like you had a blast at the beach with the family. Those finds are great, but the biggest treasures are in your pictures. Glad to have ya back!

What did the find in the second picture read as on your XLT?? Did it take long to dig it out?

Looks like you had fun...I'm heading down to the outer banks with the family at the end of August...Can't wait.

Nana,
Looks like you had a great time at the beach. I think most of the good stuff is in the wet sand or water. Even then it's tricky to find.

Thanks for sharing the photos!

I love beach hunting, no where near as much trash, easier digging, and you can always duck under water to cool off if you want......

Wonderful photos! Looks like you managed to make a pile of finds and enjoy some quality time with the family. It doesn't get much better than that. I love that beach area.

And after living there 27yrs,I moved north! Had to have been an extended senior moment. What a great family you have put together. My daughter still lives in Mobile and she frequents Gulf Shores with the g'kids, next time you go let me know and maybe she has some "off the tourist" places for you. After seeing your pics,I'm once again reminiscing and missing old friends,THANKS,now I'm sulking.Glad you had such a good time, see ya at the CTH.

Nana,
Great post and pictures. Looks like a blast. My favorite is the little boys head sticking out of the sand. ;D I could use some Sea & Sud's myself right about now.
Thanks for sharing,
MM
