Just back from the gulf and had a great time! Not a lot of time for hunting, but did squeeze in an hour here and there. A couple of dollars in change and a thousand beer tops! :D Love to dig at the beach...sooooo easy! You peeps that live there are so lucky! I wanted so badly to get into the water, but didn't dare. The waves were pretty high this past week and I love my MXT. :P I gotta get me one of those water detectors soon! ;)
The kids loved the beach and Dillon thought the ocean was just a big bath tub! :D

I found a pirate ship right outside my balcony one morning!

Had to visit the amusement parks....

And the required visit to the putt-putt course where I always win! ;D NOT!

We always love to ride the ferry from Ft. Morgan to Dauphin Island.
Here's a couple of pictures of some of the many bunkers on Ft. Morgan...

While we waited on the ferry, I met a lady that lives there. She had lots of stories to tell and we touched on the subject of metal detecting and the Civil War. She runs to her car and brings out a newspaper article where the day before a funeral service was conducted for a soldier off the CSS ship! Here's the article and a couple of links that were very informative.

Loved the ride across. Always get to see the dolphins at play, but not nearly fast enough to catch them with the camera! :D

Hi NANA, glad you had fun down there. great photos. I worked a survey crew on Ft. Morgan about four years ago and got to go where the general public was not allowed. That was special to me as I get emotional near battle sites. The pictures brought back some memories. Thanks!

Great pic's and a nice looking family Nana. Glad you got to get out for a little bit.

Thanks ya'll. It was lots of fun.

Hey Chefman...you might want to consider going to the Crooked Creek Museum in Cullman. The owner (Fred) is a great guy. He'll give you a tour of the entire site. You can still see some of the gun pits on the side of the hills. It's a special place and I enjoy going there to visit.
