Hey everyone, whew, I don't even know where to start, these last few weeks have just been incredible! This week was nothing short of that again! So, I picked up my first order of the week (4 boxes 2 bags) all skunky dumps, I go to my next pickup and as soon as I walk in the door my AWESOME vault teller comes running out to say my name 3 times " Boy do we have a surprise for you, a customer turned in a bunch of those half dollars you look through and I think they are all Silver!" So I go to the back with her and she brings out 3 40% in her hand and 3 rolls of halves, I slide out the halves and sure enough 90's and 40's ( each roll did have a couple of clad in them so not solid but.... there were 3 extra 40's she gave me so...) SO I said cool and then asked if they turned in anything else and she said yes, they turned in pennies and nickels, I'll bring them out for you to look through, she brings some out and on the first couple of rolls of Nickels they say Indian Head Dateless, I slide some out, all Buffs! I then look at the pennies she brought out, they are all marked with 1940's dates, so I tell her I'll buy it all ( I believe the total was 135.00?), so I took them home and these are some pics of the haul, we haven't sat down and gone through all of it yet ( the Nicks in the box with brown and Blue wraps seem to be ones they didn't finish sorting and have War, Buffs and some others mixed through the rolls) we'll look through them this weekend, most of the Nickels dates were between the 30's and 50's.

Ok, so now my boxes, with the start of the week being a complete skunk I went to pick up 12 boxes at one of my other branches, searched those and 6 were skunks, the other 6 were loaded! Total for those was 145 40's and 8 90's ( and another 1970!). I picked up my last 4 boxes today and they gave up 11 90's and 19 40's! So my total for this week ( including the CWR's came to, DRUM ROLL.................207 40's! and 26 90s! I just can't believe it, I know it is going to stop soon, if this wasn't it lol, but man these last 4 weeks have been a great ride for sure! Hope everyone is doing good!

Now, in the midst of all my great finds I am deeply saddened though as one of our members here has a family member who is very very sick and I think of this member of our community as a good friend mine, so if you read this man, know that my family's thoughts and prayers are with you my friend! HH to all, Maverick.

Mav,

What a score! I echo your thoughts and concerns for our friend. He and his family are in our thoughts as well.

HH

Awesome score mav and congrats on your great relationship with that teller. That is such a huge plus when you have the tellers on your side. Way to go!

you luck bas****. Wish i could score that!

Wow!! I like the money(silver), that rings hardly in the helmet(headphones), and there is not bad all the same of lost on earth(ground).

Total for the Nickels

Well, my eyes are killing me but here is what we got out of the Nickels
War = 36 keepers!
Buffs= 314 keepers!

This was a REALLY cool find for me! I honestly would have never searched enough boxes to find all of these in my life.... :tongue3:

It is a treasure to him alone, it is necessary to see years for the collection (numismatist), and quotation of every room(part,play)!
A big work of quotation!!

Wow, that's an incredible nickel score! You're right, it would sure take a lot of nickel boxes to find all that. You definitely had a week to remember - although you seem to have had so many weeks of great finds now that it may be getting harder to keep track of them all lol. Its weeks like this that are the payoff for all the skunks. Congrats!

H$H!

Any good dates in the buffalos or war nickels (low mintage ones)?

Most of the buff dates were unreadable, I could see some that were early 20's, most seemed to be late 20's and earlier 30's, most are worn well. The Wars were 43 44 45's no 42 keepers in the bunch. Now key date older nics either, all the 55's had a mint mark, no 38's or 39's with a mint mark and all the 50's had a mint mark ( none plain). As far as I know that was the important stuff to look for, I am really happy with the take though! Sorry Boris, my eyes were killing me and didn't really want to look through all the Buffs, but I'm keeping them so I can look up what dates are important on those later on. HH, Maverick.

Trying to read the dates on that many heavily circulated buffalos can sure put a strain on your eyes. But make sure to check for any key date '50D's and any '37D three legged buffs.

GGrrrrr, I missed the 50 D's, I know there were some in there, now I gotta go back and look again, holy cow, I allready rolled them all back up, or is it really worth looking again?

If you think you saw some '50D's it would definitely be worth it to double check the rolls. Those are definitely hard to find and would probably be the most valuable nickels in the bunch. They're usually worth about $5-$10 a piece depending on condition (that's 100-200 x fv). That would be a great finish to an already awesome week.

Also if you have any dated buffalos from 1926 and earlier with mint marks or a '31S, those could be worth a few dollars or more each too depending on condition. But Im sure you'll wanna give your eyes a rest before double checking those lol.

I just went back and checked my cheat sheet for dates to look for and I had 50D on it so I guess I am thinking about all the 55D's I was seeing lol, thank god, I didn't want to look through all of them again. I will check the buffs another night, If I find something I'll def post about it. HH, Maverick.

OMG, I'd feel so rich because of that! All CAREFULLY marked!!! Who-hoooo.

TG for the cheat sheet huh? lol And Im sure you've done enough buffalo hunting for one day too right? Well, good luck with buffalos. And you might want to separate any buffalos that have legible/partial dates from the no dates because the no dates generally don't have much value over fv. I think no date buffalos generally sell for around 1 1/2 x fv or so on ebay.

Great find. I know the feeling but it was long ago. Congrats.
