Coin Identified - 169X !!!!!! 1600s WAHOO!

So I was at that 1704 house today installing the wireless, camera and such...

I started in the dirt basement and within 5 minutes... I had this coin pop out...

Any clues... I can see one number that is a 9... infact... looks like 99...




OK so after a little cleaning... I believe this is as good as it gets...

I inverted the image 180 degrees and it then looked like the reverse of an Irish (Geo III or IV) coin; similar to reference number 1789 found here:
http://www.charlesriley.co.uk/britishcoins.htm
I imagined an Irish harp, the parallel lines are its strings.
(I also failed Rorschach's inkblot test.)

I inverted the image 180 degrees and it then looked like the reverse of an Irish (Geo III or IV) coin; similar to reference number 1789 found here:

Interesting coin. The date is not in the right position for a 1700s Irish halfpenny and seems wrong for the 1800s too. Could be counterfeit but I've never seen them miss that bad. Still thinking on this one.

Most definitely!

I looked looked at earlier ones but paid mort attention to James! I knew it wasn't 1700s or 1800s so now it makes sense. Good find.
