Hello All,
This week’s episode is very special. My wife got her first civil war belt plate! Took her a moment to figure out what it was, but she just had a hunch that it was good and walked it over to me in the field! There’s also a stunning first year seated dime find (the very first coins minted in 1838 in the New Orleans mint were seated dimes coined from melted-down Spanish silver reales). And there’s one of the nicest condition half dimes I’ve ever dug. I also got a slick farthing-sized colonial copper, and what I believe may be a 1700s Russian kopek of some sort (first two photos—any assistance is appreciated!) The half dime was a surface find! (Surface finds here are not uncommon from the rains. I’m also including a bonus photo of my surface find civil war six pounder cannonball from two weeks ago!) Of course my wife’s first plate and priceless reaction are caught on video, as are lots of other old finds. Please enjoy the video and pics
Best Wishes,
Buck
