Looks Celtic/romano-celtic - either bucket mount or hanging basket mount. However the loop is normally on the top, so a little unsure.

Very nice indeed :o :o :o

Hi Laurent: I have been detecting for over 40 years all over the world and I can't compare my finds to yours. You have some of the best finds I have ever seen. I have hunted the coast of France in the water but have never hunted on land there. I spend 3 months a year in Spain and would love to hunt with you some time. Keep up the postings as I love to see ancient artifacts come to the light of day.

Forgive my ignorance......But I thought that metal detecting was illegal in France....not that that should deter anyone...lol.

laws are tricky to interpret . If you ask anybody over here they simply don't care about laws . they just do as most of you in the US do > you get the owner's permission > you are not on an archeological site > you can hunt .

if you find artifacts - coins - anything else interesting history or archeology you have to record your finds to the autorities .

but if you stick to the law its neither illegal nor clearly allowed but tolerated.
:)

The tolerance of metal detecting sounds good....I imagine France has some amazing things buried here and there.Good hunting....I keep thinking you don't have to into the middle of a field, not far off the road should be some fantastic things as well...if you can tolerate the junky bits.... :)

don't like fields that much . all of the finds you could do there are in poor condition due to pesticides used by farmers . Woods are way more interesting to hunt
:)

I would rather hunt woods also .When all the fields are frozen you can still dig in the woods a bit. One of the most amazing collections I have ever seen!!! Thank you for sharing.

Some terrific finds....wish I could dig up 2000yrs of history here in the US!

Great to see your intuition is paying off...thanks for sharing your incredible finds! :)
