Hello fellow T-neters. Got out today to a new foundation I found yesterday. Alot of growth, but got to hit the front part for a few ours. They cut the wood off a few years ago, found the capped bust dime less then an inch deep. Its a little dinged up on the edge (not from me) but I will take it. Its my first capped bust dime. Also got a tag of some sort. It has a 1 and underneath it has 183, any ideas what it went too? Going to post it on the what is it forum aswell. Thanks for looking.

Well you wanted to get a Bust coin and now you have a very nice one. congrats!! Can't offer much on the tag, one of a zillion that are found, could be one of many things, maybe someone will nail it.

If you want to ID your dime, this site is what I used to attribute the varieties of my Bust Half Dollars. I did a quick look and yours is closest but not sure due to possible angle shot of your photo, to the JR-5 Common variety 1830/29.

http://rob.com/russ/collection/2100.html (this one shows the JR-5 one) look on the Reverse to ID it, not the Obverse, see how E PLURIBUS UNUM lines up with the letters above and compare, also one thing that might be different that I could not tell for sure is the closeness of the arrow point to the last A in AMERICA, if that matches exactly on spacing than fairly certain it is a JR-5.

I thought it was a 30 over 29

Congrats,

Still looking for my first bust anything

Great Job
Not only is that an awesome type coin to find, it is in really good condition, can't tell from your photo but anywhere in the VF-AU range and that is great for a coin that old.

Very nice old silver there ...I only dug one capped dime and its not in that good shape...Congrats on a sweet coin :icon_thumleft:

Thank all! Creeper I give you full credit, Good eye. :icon_thumleft:

That cape bust is in really great shape good find :icon_thumleft: Dd60

Congrats on the Awesome coin. The other looks like a clipped edge plate. Look on the back for solder marks where the hooks attached. It also may be a cow tag.
