I returned to the area I snagged a liberty cap last week. Felt good to get out after a 5 day busy spell. Anyhow, here are the finds.

My first Capped bust half-dime surfaced today. It felt great digging this surprise after being sure it was a flat button or rifle bullet. For you CTX buffs, it rang up exactly as a 12-32. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1495586290.109145.jpg

Also found a candle snuffer last Friday, same area. Thanks for the ID JoeyFresh;)

I'm happy to say this is my oldest US silver, ousting out my 1834 Capped dime. It's amazing how scarce the silver is from this period in the US. I've also hopefully located the homesite - a 15' x 20' iron patch surrounded by hundreds of acres.

Cheers everyone, and good digs!

Steve

She cleaned up nice!
I can only imagine digging early silver....
July 4 week will be in MD, fingers crossed.
Congrats brother!

Congrats on that Capped Steve:occasion14: and thanks for I.D.-ing mine in NY. :icon_thumright: Looks like you found another producing old site. You are a Monster detectorist and have a knack for swinging the coil and identifying great keepers. :notworthy:

Congrats Steve for finding that tiny little thing in a haystack, I'm so happy for you. I hope I find some too someday.

Holy smokes awesome Capped Bust find!!! Wow I want to find one of those! Other finds are cool I especially like the candle snuffer. Congrats and HH

Oh yeah!! Nice work...a great looking coin, and your tarnished silver resurrection skills are on display once again.

PS - could our dirt have some of your dirt's skeleton keys? Pleeeze?

Congrats on the hit list

Congrats brother!

Maryland has some of the oldest so start imagining Dave! Hopefully you've done a little preliminary research and I wish you the best of luck. Thx Dave

Terrific finds! Love that capped bust! I finally got mine this year, congrats on your now oldest US silver bud!

It was great watching your face when you were holding that Capped silver. Priceless. As for me, I wasn't expecting much when I dig this one. Thought it was another rifle bullet or button.

Congrats Steve for finding that tiny little thing in a haystack, I'm so happy for you. I hope I find some too someday.

With the old ground you're over on a daily basis, I have no doubt you'll pull much more old silver. Cheers buddy

First of all congrats on the silver, and for getting your oldest US silver! I would of thought that you had achieved this before this with all your site hunts, but it's a reminder on just how scarce the silver coinage from this period is. I was lucky enough to score a Capped half dime off my property a few years ago, it's one of those finds I'll always remember seeing the old toned silver coming out of the ground.

Congrats Scrappy! New oldest US silver, wow.

My oldest US silver is... well, you know.

That's a nice looking one too. Cleaned up well.

I like the skeleton key too, just something about them gets me going.

Best of luck to you sir!

Congratulations on the fine relic hunt! :occasion14: Very nice 1/2 dime recovery! :icon_thumright:

The tarnish was wicked tough on this coin. It came out ok, but took quite a while. Thx for looking
