NEW CLUE - Here are a few more clues I found on this piece.
It is not a gasket, or a part to any car. I showed you one side. The other side shows WOOD screws holes. Also the 82 on it is usually a date mark like 1782 or 1882 no cars in 1882 or 1782 and the rust on it would date it back at least 150 years ago.

Now, what do you think it is?

I dont think it such small amount of rust if it had been in the ground for 150 years.Give or take..the more modern i dig has a lot of rust on it just after 20 yrs or so........

I have to agree, plus it looks like it's plated or e-coated.
I think it's a gasket of sorts, maybe a holder for an air inlet duct with filter for a tractor or something. Not enough screwholes to get a the force to seal off rubber.

Good luck!

I have to agree.

Another Hint: This part has been cleaned and the rust removed. It was found many feet from a wheel (pictured here). It has been under fresh water for sometime.

OK guys, tell me what you think this "wheel" is and if it has anything to do with the first piece.

Oops . I forgot to attach the pictures.

??? Is this a test, I never was any good at test..... :P
HH and any answer is as good as any other. hehe

the wheel looks like a steel canon wheel or a wagon wheel that held the canon balls, they were used up north new England area.Wood wheels would not hold up under the weight with rocks and mountains they traveled. the other is unknown, will have to think about it. what state was it found in and where? that would be big help looking up history in that area.

I don't believe it is a cannon wheel, more likely a cart wheel or possibly a mining car wheel.

We may never know what the piece is, it is probably some sort of modern (turn of the century) machinery. I don't believe something as old as 1782 or 1882 would last that long in a river.

There is so many possibilities for that piece, it could be from any part of an machinery that could have been washed into the river.

But i could be wrong :)

WAG - part of a cannon hitch

I wanna guess sooooo bad. But, but, All I
can come up with is a steam engine plate.
Oh well. Thanks for letting me play.

Maybe machine parts from a water mill, the first picture could be a blade guard and the other a gear wheel.

Looks like a guide to allow you to lock a wheel or cog in place.

It is a old school desk track. it helped old the top up.

school bus door track

looks like a guide frame for some furniture

Went inside a gun stock, that's my best guess and don't think it's a good one.:dontknow:

I shall name it Fred

Frame that holds down upholstery on chair arm gets my vote - Nuggy
