Can You Identify The Meteorite in this Photo?

It's hard enough when someone posts a fuzzy pic of a single side of a rock. No info, no area - nothing. And then expects folks to tell them what it is. Too many out there look alike - at least to me.

well when you see an IRON METEORITE with fusion crust and other tail tail signs you just know it is , or at least i knew it was when i found one. and yes i had it checked out. when you love looking for them , beginner or 30years , the stony ones are the tricky one to spot. GOOD LUCK HUNTING.

I have found a few irons in Franconia. I have also seen the beautiful fakes made with welding torches and high speed fans at major shows like Tucson. :occasion14:

ya awesome when you find em , i have three of the small fake ones , but they look realistic , anyway have a good day.

Since i have no clue about meteorites i would have assumed at least one of them was Kryptonite. I guess we could have Superman stand next to them. If he dies...don't blame me!

I had to rule out mine being from Krypton. It had no effect on me. The other choice was that it is from Kryton and I am not Superman. No concrete evidence for either scenario. :)

I know I'm new, so I apologize if I'm overstepping my bounds, but the term "Chondrite," CERTAINLY does NOT mean "no metal.""Chondrite" only tells us that the meteorite in question is a stony meteorite containing Chondrules. In fact, the H Group Chondrites average 15-20% metal w/i total mass, and they are the most abundant type of meteorite collected, accounting for 45% of all recognized meteorites thus far.

Terry: This was a good idea. Maybe should be a sticky.
So far on this forum ( not your post) it looks like meteorite yes= 5% No = the rest.
Research is free advice.
