Can someone identify this metal from hard rock mining

It comes from this rock I am thinking silver gold ore California
 

Leah - if that sample rock came from the Motherlode area of Ca., you know it could be part of the numerous veins which have produced millions of ozs of hard-rock gold. Unfortunaley the only way to tell for sure is to crush it down to consistency of salt grains or finer, then pan it slowly for colors of gold. Your pics by themselves are not conclusive. Good luck. Looks like mica in the pan,,is it flat and flaky,, A little plastic like in texture?
 

mica.. the rock might have value..CRUSH IT!! pan it!! and GL May you find a plethora of GOLD.

Nice looking ore Leahexplorer, If you find out let me know as in Virginia here I have been get some of the same looking stuff from a vein I am digging. Thanks for showing the pictures.
