A quick search revealed a lead bar claimed to be from the CW. I would imagine they used whatever was available. http://www.joshuasattic.com/search/product.asp?ID=2439

Yes,those are the bars, and they pre date the C.W.

The pieces were cut or carved off of that bar, they did not come that way(like yours)yours clearly shows evidence of being cut or broke off of the bar.
also, i do NOT see where you see the clear eveidence of being broken, maybe carved or cut, not broken

O.K.,I apologize if I was short.I wasnt clear in saying, that lead came in bars(like the one BCy posted)and usually had the makers(Co.)mark on them(I have quite a few,but am not on my computer)they were carried in a pouch,by hunters, soldiers or anybody that had a firearm. When they would prepare to make bullets(musket,or pistol balls...or any other projectile)they would cut a piece off of this bar(I thought yours appeared to be cut)and melt it to be poured into a mould.I have also found the ingots which were sometimes triangle shaped, and came that way....but I usually find those at later 19th century sites.I hope I was a little clearer, and do hope your lead is indeed what you want it to be

I hope it turns out to be what you want it to be too but its not cw just because you want it to be. You need to look at the clues with an open mind. :icon_thumright:

i understand that, and i am looking at the clues both of what you posted, the history of my town, and the history of the site

The best finds are the ones that you toss into the junk box and later find out they are something special. ;D
