I am very excited! This is my oldest coin to date, and only my second half ever! Was able to get on an old farm today, was working around an old fruit tree and got a kind of jumpy signal on the etrac, couldn't believe it when this popped out!

I must take issue with your find in regards to the photos and a sense for what is proper. That's way too good a coin to use paper towel for a background. I hope you at least used the good stuff - two-ply Bounty towel or perhaps Brawny with decorative print. Good god man! Next time you find a killer coin like that, do it up right with some find Corinthian leather or red velvet for a background shot. Awesome find. Congrats.

Wow incredible find! I think I would've babied it a little more instead of swiping the dirt across it...other than the micro scratches in the photo it looks uncirculated.

Every time any of us go out swinging our detectors we dream of making a find like this. My first seated half dollar was in a hole with a seated quarter. Found 2 half reales in the same hole once. Every once in a while we make a great find. This is certainly one. Way to go and banner all the way.

Years ago, I found the same coin, except that it had corrosion from the ground; not sure if fertilizer was the culprit or not, but the details were just as fine as this one. Imagine my surprise when it didn't fit in a half dollar 2x2! Since then, I've thought, "That would have been a Banner coin had I been on TNet at the time." I'm surprised this isn't, so I am going to nominate it.

Not implying anything about this coin, just in response to your statement, I've never dug a silver coin that clean and let's just say I've dug a few. But the air is in the soil too, even water silver tarnishes aftera few years. But soil can play a factor too. This is a nice coin.

I've dug hundreds of silver coins and many of them were as shiny as the day they were minted. It has to be about the soil they're in.

Haha! I'll keep that in mind if I ever find another one!

haha, saw you didn't like my comment, but all others. That's fine, as long as it got the point across. You can't rub coins like that when just found. Just think of it this way...it's been buried for 150 years. A few more minutes with dirt on it won't hurt it if you wait to clean it at home. Then at home just rinse with water and dab...don't rub it.

Thanks Everyone for the kind words and appreciation fo my find!
