I went on my 2nd detecting trip of the season the other day in an old colonial farm field. (I did pretty well on my first one). Along with a nice old button, I found this bullet. I’m not great with identifying bullets but it looks old to me, having those rings. Can anyone identify the period it’s from? Or even the likely caliber/gun it could have been shot out of? It measures about 2 inches long and .75 inches wide. Thanks! D6AED2BE-5FE5-443D-AC18-58A3A8B7CE76.jpeg10FBBFE5-1A9D-4BDF-BEB7-C76697ACA541.pngB94390C1-6757-4706-A05A-B8DB64BD7C6E.png

Please check your measurements. Without accurate ones it will be harder to correctly identify your bullet. Also, please post a picture of the base.

there are 69 cal 2 and 3 ringers common to the civil war era --the 75 cal brown bess bullets were round ball type not conical type
