Build Your Own Vacuum / Blower

Received a email from one of the forum members who recently purchased a Viper-Vac kit. Below what he says,

Thank you, it works great. I was out there trying it at one of the spots I know. I vacuumed up about ¾ of a bucket and found about 10 to 20 flakes. Now I need to find a better spot. I feel like I am dredging now but on dry land. I will keep you posted.

Made a change to the elbow within the Viper-Vac. I have cut down the entire bottom side of the elbow. This will allow more room for storage within the bucket for hose, tools, etc. when the blower is attached to the bucket. The first photo shows the old inlet without being cut down.

Just finished putting together my vac using the kit. The parts were precise and the finally assembly was easy using the provided instructions. The final product looks pro. Very happy.

Thank you again for offering the kit and saving me the time.

Hi Keith, Thanks for the update. I use my Viper-Vac every weekend down here in sunny San Diego (yes there is gold in San Diego) when I am drywashing, crevicing and sucking that last grain of AU out of the bedrock. I took it to my local outing with my club and you should've seen all the old timers checking it out. Im very proud to own it and would like to thank you for making it so easy to build with the exceptional kit you provide. I think every miner should own a Viper-Vac! Talk to ya soon. -Mike

Mike... Thanks for the update on using the Viper-Vac. I will send out the kit later in the week. Just got home and found our A/C is not operating. With today's temps at about 105 its not a good time to have and A/C down.

As usual, top-notch ideas, top-notch instructions, top-notch final product. Thank you.

Thanks Keith, the Viper Vac Kit is an great improvement, the performance increase is huge over the brand x vac I purchased, never knew there were so many leaks in my old unit. Thanks again for the quality and care you put into the kit.

Thanks Pat for the update. I had seen a number of brand x Vac's and was surprised of the quality in the builds, no concerns to leakage or the lost of suction power. Bottom line the user needs to extract paydirt and know they have the most suction power available. One of the brand x vac's has now gone to the style lid and bucket that has been part of the Viper-Vac from the beginning.

AZViper,
Just want to give you an update on the build that i finished a while back.
It works really good and i get lots of compliments on it. Thank you very much for the build instructions.
Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the update... I have delivered nearly fifty kits from the time you built your vac and twelve complete Viper-Vac's. Have had great response from those using the Viper Vac. Whats really bad is my Viper-Vac is in pieces. The minute I cut out a new kit for myself I am sending it off to another buyer. I need to build a CNC router so I can cut these out very quickly and have them on hand.

That's funny you can't keep one for yourself...... When i came back to this thread i never realized you made so many more for others...... Nope! Not selling mine as it was a labor of love with your help explaining how to do it before there was kits. wish you much success and maybe will get to meet you someday. I've been using the vac around the Abby Claims in the Black Canyon City Area and what a great job it does. I just can't find the right spot yet, and need to use the metal detector to help locate
Happy Thanksgiving
Joe

Got my vac finished thanks a bunch Keith. Seriously folks I am terrible at building stuff. I can barley make my bed, but Keith's kit makes it easy.

Hey Alan,

Looks good and I am glad it went together for you nicely. Hope you crevice up some gold... Keith

The rubber seal I found at Ace Hardware. Its in a roll of hundreds of feet. This U shape seal can be found at McMastercarr.com as well. I fold wax paper a number of times then place in the grove. Bring to the two ends together and use super glue to glue the ends to each other. You need to make sure that the ends are cut straight so they bond to each other. The wax paper keeps the the sides from sticking to each other if to much super glue is used.

Viper-Vac kits or complete Viper-Vac are no longer available from me, if anyone has questions on building a Viper-Vac you can PM me.
For those who have contacted me recently on the purchase of the kit I am sorry. The first page of this thread explains how to build the Vac.
The Vac can be built without the recess groove and without removing any of the small tabs surrounding the intake opening due to the raised seal. You will
need to locate this U shape seal in your area. My local Ace Hardware sales the seal to make the O-ring.
