I found this medal in Front Royal VA near Randolph-Macon Academy. It is a boyscout medal from 1917 for selling war bonds. It has a name inscribed on the back "HP Hansberger". I looked in the archives and found that he graduated from RMA in 1920.
-Now, I just bought this book that is a photo history of Front Royal. I was looking through it and I found a 1915 photo of the Harnsberger birthday party with Humphry standing in the back! -He looks kind of creepy... I just thought it was awesome to put a face with an artifact! Photo 3.jpgPhoto 4.jpgPhoto 1.jpgPhoto 2.jpg

The story makes that a killer find. To be able to ID the guy, 100 years after the fact, is just awesome. Congrats!

Creepy? He is quite a handsome young lad, reminds me of me...

That is beyond awesome in my book! I would love to be able to put a picture of an ex-owner with the artifact itself! :hello2:

A lot of research has paid off on that one. That is the oldest medal I have heard about concerning the boy scouts.

Welcome to Treasure Net !!Great save !!
Are you thinking of taking the next step;returning it to his next of kin? If so, it's known that his school became a military school before he graduated, so he may be a vet--and vet records may be available. You also must know that his school is still in operation and they may have a record of Hansberger as an alumni. You may wish to call the school and inquire: (540) 636-5200.
