Found this:

Big Chief was a brand first used by Coca Cola Bottling companies from the 1910's until the early 1930's when the Big Chief brand was replaced with Fanta and Dr. Pepper. After 1944 there is no bottler bottling Big Chief brand soda anywhere in the United States.

Here is what I've been able to dig up (pun intended) on the Big Chief Brand:

Rare Antique 1925 "Big Chief Beverages" bottle. An Indian Head with 3 feathers on two sides making this a double sided Indian Chief Head. The sides of the bottle are textured or pebbled glass. The bottles embossing reads " Big Chief Beverages" on the top. " Bottle Patd. Dec. 29 1925 Contents 6 1/2 flu. ozs. Property of Rock Springs Coca Cola Bottling Co." on the bottom. Big Chief was a brand first used by Coca Cola Bottling companies from the 1910's until the early 1930's when the Big Chief brand was replaced with Fanta and Dr. Pepper. After 1944 there is no bottler bottling Big Chief brand soda anywhere in the United States. Embossed clear glass bottles were made by Owens bottling machines that each plant bought and operated. Each plant in each loaction was responsible for both the design and shape of the bottle but the "Terre Haute Indiana Bottling Company Design won the nationwide competition to design the "new coke bottle" in 1916 but it was not until late 1940's that all Coca Cola or Big Chief looked the same nationwide. Put simply the Big Chief and Coca-Cola Bottles from the 1920's are unique to each location in each city in each state and therefore both extremely rare and highly collectible."

Pictures here.

That would be good because the bottles are selling anywhere from $50 to $100.

Very interesting about the local bottling plants coming up with their own designs for the bottles, and probably the caps as well.
