Bluetooth Headphone Pairing

I was talking about the speaker not cutting out when you plug the h/p directly into the control head with the stereo adapter. The stereo adapter is not a problem when using the WM08 as I stated previously, I just wanted a single adapter that works for both situations and the mono one I showed fits that bill. If you intend to use the WM08 exclusively, then a stereo adapter is just fine because the control head speaker is turned off by the internal control head radio when it establishes a wireless connection with the WM08 or Bluetooth headphones. Hope that clears it up.

Have not had any problems with the Minelab wireless phones. Right or wrong, I first turn on detector, and with the lights so tiny and button so small, I press the button with my thumbnail while holding the head phones up to my ear, after hearing them power up, I then press the wireless button on the EQ, has always been fine, when I'm done, first the headphones, same thing, take them off, find the "Tiny" button and press while holding up to my ear to be sure they are powered off, then the wireless button on the EQ, then turn off detector and go home. I don't know, just always works for me.

You really should factory reset the phones and even the EQX if that is not too painful (i.e., if you don't have too many customizations set). This helped another user who's headphones were acting up after a time (they turned on and showed connected but the volume buttons wouldn't work). Sometimes the automatically adjusted settings in the bluetooth comms stack just get bollocksed up and you have to start from scratch to clear the stored settings and start from scratch. As far as BT alternatives, here are a couple of relatively inexpensive BT APTX LL headphones that are available:

Though these are "on the ear" and may not be comfortable for you.

The following are "over the ear" phones:

For reference, these are the clones of the ML phones:

I have only tried the Miccus phones and am just providing the others for info/research purposes only, I can't speak to compatibility and reliability.

Tomorrow I should receive a pair of "ArchMage" Clear Sound phones as a back up, these on "on the ear" and I'll see what they are like, they were something like $35, and after trial and error were a choice by "Sitting Elf" I believe, and being way happy with them, but I'm also thinking a "over the ear" set like the Miccus BT Stealth is also a type I may also like to pick up. $59 way cheaper then Minelabs own, AND,...THESE are not on a "pre-order" delay type of thing. I'll admit, after all these years of wired headphone, I have already been spoiled by wireless. The Miccus? well..used by "vferrari" so, it's my choice to go with that as well.

Yup, I fooled around some more and figured out it was the output on the control unit that won't shut off the speaker with other phones. I just didn't properly understand your first statement regarding this. Learning more every day!! Now I have to get a stereo/mono adapter in case I ever need to be tethered to the detector. I love these newer machines but sometimes I must admit I miss my old BFO! By the way, one of the funny things about my Garrett BFO was that I would pick up police radio car transmissions through it and occasionally I heard them calling in that they were off to investigate strange goings on at a school (me). When they got there I'd be waiting and they always left, usually shaking their heads when I told them what I was doing since there weren't may detector users then.

From everything I can find, it should make no difference to Bluetooth which you turn on or off first. But if you turn the headphones off before you turn off the detector, you can make sure the phones are off by watching for the headphones icon to disappear.

I'm glad you're not having the stuck button problem. You're lucky.
