Hey everyone,

Thought I would share a few finds I have made over the past few months. This was the best winter in pa ever. I hunted basically through the whole winter. Things were slow for a minute there. But I got a tip on two really nice cellar holes in my neighborhood. I knew of 1 already that i hunted once last winter.

It was hunted already. But I was able to still pull out a few keepers. My son has been playing with the neighborhood kids alot. And about a week or so ago he was telling me about a bunch of broken shards of glass in the woods. He also told me he found a chinese cash coin there in the summer.

It peaked my interest because this woods is very large. Well we decided to go and look for the site. But first we started at the first foundation I knew of. While I was there a truck came by and a guy also proceeded to tell me about another foundation up in the woods not far away. So now I had two different people on the same day tell me about this site.

The guy also told me in the past some other guys had found some old coins back there. Once he left that was all I had to hear. This guy saying old coins this kid telling me he eye balled a chinese cash coin. I packed up at that moment and the rest tells it all. I found the site and just started ripping every single last signal out of the ground.

This hole gave up around 25 or 30 old coins including a nice 1878 seated quarter. Most hunters aren't me. So they must of not had a good unit or didn't know how to hunt. Because they left me a ton. Got some other holes lined up to go and track down. I go in and out with the types of sites I hunt.

I am getting back into foundation hunting over the next few months. Thanls for looking hope you all like the finds.

No,

I should be knocking on more door. I still feel funny about it after all these yrs. I have hunted a bunch of private homes over the yrs. But it always ended up being through someone. I have asked though at times to hunt sites. Got more go aheads than no. My son tells me all the time. Lets just knock some doors.

People get funny though when your in there yard. When I can't find any sites I will resort to more door knocking. We have victorian era and older towns all around me with blocks of homes lined up from the 1800's.

The key I don't have right in front of me. But it has one letter on it. It is either a S or a R. Not sure 100%.

Super Hunting, JerV3, That old fire department badge (Hose Company) in the middle is intriguing. What department is it from and what does the back look like? Is it hallmarked? I have a US badge hallmark history book if you need info on it. Congrats!

Very good start to the year. Big congrats!

Thanks for sharing all of those great finds, it's been mild here in Michigan too but my business doesn't allow me to sneak out much until spring. Still looking for my first seated quarter among many other wants. Keep up the good work!

Jer,
Which of your machines do you find the most with or is it a toss up? We/I would appreciate a little background on your use of your machines as well as how you decide to use one or the other for a particular area. No need to respond if these questions are out of place or inappropriate............63bkpkr

Thanks alot guys.

The badge was one of my favorite finds. It was made in pittsburgh by a co. But I don't have it in front of me at the moment. It was for the stowe township fire hose number 5. Would love to know a little more about it. It's a local find. The neighborhood I found it in is stowe township.

No problem, I am here to try and help others. I lean towards using the V3 90% percent of the time. I can use 3 or 4 units. The dfx se idx pro but the spectra and whites is what I like best. I will say though every time I touch the se it pulls silver. But nothing else. Minelabs are great silver units.

I just know whites best and I am most proficient with it. So I use what unit I am going to find the most with. That would be the V3. I think it is right there with the minelab when it comes to silver. I think the se is better in bad soils and in trashy areas maybe. Hope this helps. I just have alot of yrs useing whites.

Minelabs seem to be a little more tricky to learn. I don't think they give you as much info to what you are digging before you dig it. I just don't have time to learn a bunch of top end units. But I would like to have a e-trac in the collection. You just cant swing them all. Ithink it is better to stay on one unit. Change out the coils and learn just one unit the best you can.

Congrats on a great start for 2012, I would like to finish 2012 like that :laughing7:way to go.

Thanks man me too lol.

Hope the whole yr goes like this. But I have 3 boys playing baseball and my one boy was asked to play in a metro league for the best ball players in western pa. So it is gonna be a busy yr. They start practice this sunday already. My hunting time after these next few months will be very little. Got to find alot now. Then pick back up in the fall and winter.
