Been hunting over a mile road & sidewalk tearout, been working this for over a month. Trying to find time to post my incredible finds from this, just a little overwhelming on the magnitude of my finds to get it done. Hopefully it will be finished soon, it will posted as "MY MIRACLE MILE". To excited to wait on todays find, this strip has been bulldozed over 3 times and the dirt is differant everytime I go here. I have detected the area I found this dollar over ten times. Today was my lucky day! Got a dollar signal that was bouncing back & forth between Nickel and dollar. Know its a nail I thought, might as well get it out of here. Dug about 4" and pulled out a giant nail, which this area is coverd with. Checked hole again and dollar signal came over loud and clear on my GTA 1000. Dug another 2" nothing, stuck my pinpointer in the hole down another 1" of to one side. Loosened the dirt and grabbed a handful. At first thought I had a huge slug until I seen the Eagle on the rear. I knew I had a Peace dollar finally after over 15 years of detecting. I had to tell my self to breath!. Turned her over and seen some scratches across her face. S#$T! But I soon realized they were already on there, maybe from earler bulldozing. I thought who cares! When I got home just rinsed with water and light scrub with toothbrush to see date and mint. Foumd date, cant find a mint mark. Soon realized I had a key date coin. Afraid now to touch the thing but I really want to see it cleaned up. Guess I'll have to wait after I get it authenticated. Anyways keep eye out for my post on this month long hunt hopefully coming soon.

Great coin, can't wait to see one of those in a hole. Big roundness in the hole.

Beautiful piece ! I'm still waiting to find ANY silver of any kind... Great job !

Took this Dollar to two reputable dealers today, the verdict? Inconclusive from both. The coin had to much wear & decay around the mint area to be 100% sure. One was about 50% leaning that it was a Philadelphia mint but would not guarantee his opinion. His appraisal if he was able to authenticate $75 - $125 due to condition. So since it cannot be fully Authenticated I am going to finally clean it up and display it in a frame as my 1st Silver Dollar find.

Wow look at that thing! Sweet! ..i hope i dig 1 up in my life time.lol

Hey Ray, Great find! I have yet to get one.
I finally got out detecting in town this weekend for only the 2nd time this summer. I saw you had been there by all the little "disturbed" dirts pock marks in the tear out on the street. LOL! I figured it had to be you! I didn't find much, it was still too hot and humid for my blood to stay long. Hopefully in a week or two the temps will cool off a bit.
I did find a place out of town this summer we need to hit. I found about 6 silver and over a dozen wheat in the 2 times I went. I'll let you know next time I go.

Wow, that spot you found sounds great, where the silvers older? Oh yeah I have been working this tearout thru the 110+ temps the rain and humdity for over a month now and have found some incredible stuff. Im trying to find time to get a post together on everything. I was hoping to see u down there but I knew you might be out of town. That would be great if we could finally get together on a hunt. Let me know and keep a eye out hopefully soon on my post.naming it "My Miracle Mile"

Awesome find man! I like the details in the recovery, its easy to get discouraged when all you are digging is nails even though that high pitch remains when re scanning the hole.

Thanks Captain, it was a adrenaline rush. I came so close to not dig. It was so hot!!! But I have found such great stuff I told myself to dig everything, so glad I did. Even if I already have dug I swear 10 pounds of nails and metal trash.

Hey! I thought I was the only person still using an old GTA1000 ! Haven't been out with it lately but that trusty machine has found over a thousand silvers and a lot of them were in heavily pounded sites.

I love this machine, I think once if I ever get my atpro I will miss her alot. It has never failed me in trashy areas and very very accurate. Glad to hear of your success with it also.

Congrats on that beauty. Way to be persistent!

A peace dollar is still on my wish list....

HH

Ray Ray , I've said it before and I'll say it again - A silver dollar is a rare find for any metal detectorist - Very nice find !
