Today after family time I headed out not knowing where to go. I've had my equinox out to modern school grounds learning sounds and digging different signals. Today I decided on going to an early 1900's church I've been over numerous times along with a hunting buddy.

My first signal after noise cancel was a wheat penny. I dug a handful of wheaties and a couple zincolns and then I got a broken but repeatable high tone along the front sidewalk. After cutting the plug and pinpointing in the hole one scoop and out pops big shiny....a Barber quarter! 1916. After more wheats and zinc pennies I dug what I thought would be another zinc judging by the numbers. To my surprise I saw one dime! 1909 Barber dime....

Now I'm all giddy because I've been here so many times and I'm wondering what else could be here...
A few holes later I got another zinc penny signal and about 8 inches down was something round...and green. At first I thought a button but after a wipe I saw a left facing bust. Yes! Got a copper! After a toothpick swipe it ends up being holed too. It has flowers on the back so I guess it's not a KG2 but a possible British half penny?

My last good find was about 9" deep and is some kind of presidential copper plate. Dated 1904. Roosevelt/Fairbanks.

This was one of my best hunts in a long time. The wife said I've been in a good mood...lol! Thanks for looking and good luck to everyone.

Excellent hunt and great saves! I've got an Equinox coming. Since I began detecting 8 years ago, I've owned a Fisher 1266X, a White's MXT Pro, 2 Garrett AT Pros, a Teknetics T2SE, an XP Deus, Nokta Fors Relic and a Makro Racer 2. I've found some great relics with everyone of these machines, but never really "bonded" with any except the Whites and the AT Pro. The White's got too heavy and I believe I've taken the AT Pro to its limits. I'm really liking what I'm seeing and hearing about the Equinox and can't wait to take it to some of my pounded sites where I know there's still some relics being masked by iron, etc. While I'm saving my final verdict for the field, I believe Minelab really seems to have broken through to a new level with the ability to run multi-frequencies all at once. I suspect this unit will really ramp up innovation, new technology and competition.

At first I wanted to get one in my hands to denounce the hype but after trying a couple different settings away from park 1 it's like my old spots have never been hit. I quit going back to one spot that I hit yesterday morning a while ago because i couldn't find any more signals above iron. 20180409_170436.jpgcouple hours later....

Yes, EVERY new detector gets lots of hype these days. I, too, was skeptical and I know it's not perfect, but the reports from the field were just too good to ignore. Mine came today. I'll be headed out Thur and Fri this week.

I was also impressed with the fact that the positive reviews were coming from veteran detectorists with a diverse range of experience with other brands. That's an observation (and influence) other manufacturers may want to take notice of.

It's a keeper. Hope to see your finds with the new machine once you settle in with it!

HighVDI what a fantastic hunt!!! You have found my elusive barber quarter. Congratulations on everything you deserve it. Wow great hunt :)

Lol, funny how certain things elude one persons coil and not the next guy! I'd kill for an SLQ. Thanks for the kind words truth and can't wait to see your upcoming finds with your new 800.
