Yes, a friend made it for me under my specs... Well I was there while he was making it so I could have made it but he had the tools. It's a normal spade bought from a hardware store... something like this one originally drain-spade-02148-copy.jpg
Than it was cut the point than the sides and the serrations. The handle was taken off and a iron tube was put in it's place and a T handle was made with the same tube... The cost was about $20 for all, shovel, materials, and the grinder disk. So I consider it pretty cheap. Than it was painted black with hi temperature BBQ paint.

He did a good job!!!

:dontknow:I just got the pirhana from predator tools and works great in the roots cause here in LA in the summer the dirt is hard and sandy but in winter it muddy but the pirahana works great through all seasons in my opinion.:hello::happysmiley:

I thought this looks very interesting and I've been wanting an extra digger, so I went to Lowes yesterday and bought one. Thanks for the tip.

I first bought the Ames digger this thread started about and it was fine until I had to dig a little deeper for my rewards!! That is when I purchased my Lesche standard digger. I have my eye on Predator Tools Model 31 Raptor hand digging tool mainly for it's scoop shape and ability to remove dirt from holes in progress. The standard digger has a straighter blade and can't remove much dirt once you get down to full blade depth. Unless of course you make a much larger hole and that defeats the purpose of trying to be discreet in our recovery efforts. I have also experimented with small shovels and while they can dig good holes I am not getting the massive strength of a purpose built tool such as a Predator Tools Pirhranna, etc. Most commercially avilable digging tools are made of some pretty thin stuff and require reinforcement when modifying the blades shape, etc. Just my two cents. BTW, I keep the Ames in my truck just in case.

I am headed to the shed to mod an old trenching shovel i ain't used in years...cool idea...thanks!
