Best Beep, Dig Machine for Relic hunting

So, I guess from what I'm reading, the answer is try out a few in your price range, either through a dealer or a club and then committ to the one that seems to be the most comfortable to work with and resist being seduced into selling or trading it for something that is being hyped as better. Then use the machine every chance you get. This should wind up being the best beep-dig machine.

I use a Tesoro Vaquero. With manual ground balance, in the all metal mode, it is scary deep. Picks up small targets very well.

I now use a Tejon for the most part and with TID machines out there I predict I will still find stuff a few years from now.

Cibola,turn on and go.Dig deep.

Don't look at the screen and it won't lie! Use a detector for the guts it has, whether there's a meter or not is irrelevant.

IP nailed it. When relic hunting listen for the tones. I use a DFX 300 with a 9.5 coil and in the relic mode I just listen for those high tones. Bullets, buttons, brass and shotgun hulls all read the same high tone. I don't look at my screen as it is a waste of time. It won't tell me to dig or not. That is my decision not the machine. The only time I use the screen is for pinpointing. No matter what machine you have you must learn what it is telling you. The screen is not that important.

In my opinion the Tejon will become an icon for Tesoro just as the 1266-X has become for Fisher.

Both will most likely be in demand for many years to come, regardless of the TID's that are introduced!
