Best Beep, Dig Machine for Relic hunting

Nautilus DMCIIb with a 15" coil for good soil. Bad soil a Whites TDI or Minelab 4500. My MXT with 14" coil will go pretty dang deep too but not Naughty deep.

Our crew uses Tejon/Vaquero/X5/ 1266X and they will get you deeper than you probably will want to dig, and you can swing them all day with out tiring. My buddy with the 66 kicks all our butts on a regular basis, but he has been swinging a 1265 - 66 for at least 20 years, and that is the seceret to kicking butt. Any of the above would be worth checking out,and I didn't even mention the "can't be beat" warranty and service of Tesoro. It is fact!

Tejon and the T2 for light weight deep reading relic hunting

I've used every one of the detectors mentioned save for the MLs. Just my two pence, but nothing comes close to the the Nautilus DMCIIB(or Ba) with a 15 inch coil.

A IIb with a 15" coil sure isn't going to do a lot if there's much iron around which is the case for almost every site I hunt. But for open cleaner space, and decent dirt, and in the right hands, I think it probably is the king.

You're right in that in a house site, the DMCIIB with a big loop will have a lot of separation difficulties. The F75 comes out to go into the house itself and the DMC cleans up CW camps.

I now own both the Advantage and a Tejon. I'm also tired of swapping out machines looking for that "perfect" detector, sooooo, I am pledging to not buy, trade, or acquire another machine until I have mastered these (1-2 years at least).

I hunt with the old conquistador and a silver sabre II that hip mounts. I dig gold lead brass and copper silver just fine and very deep. I hunt in North Ala,North Ga and south east Tn. Just listen to the machine. I always carry a bullet(lead) silver(coin) and copper to test my machine while I hunt. I may stop every hour or so and make sure I am hearing the signals I need with my carried targets. Maybe I am old fashioned by testing all the time when I hunt but it sure helps me. Sometimes I want to block iron at first and then go back in all metal and get that???
Good luck in all your hunts and have fun.

not only the 1266 fisher but i find and like the 1270 alot as well have found some deep goodies with that!

.....The Double Eagle went very deep for its time...basically it was a TR with a large searchcoil....(Built mainly to find the large CW Shells and Cannonballs)...but time caught up to it since it used Vacuum Tubes and heavy batteries......it became obsolete about the time that Whites came out with their Supreme V CoinMaster which I believe was the first VLF/GEB Detector and the first Supreme V CoinMaster had No Discrimination....which was added later.....Many CW Relics were found in Mineralized soil with the Supreme V that could not be found with the older TR detectors which just could not handle the hot soil.......Joe

......BamaBill....I'm with you.....I also have a Minelab Advantage and think that it is a great Relic Detector......just Beep and Go.....Sometimes the detectors with TID meters just display too much info..........I just want to know if the target is deep and if it is Non-Ferrous or Ferrous.....Some Sites I dig everything ....other sites I may be more selective.......Joe

Only rivaled by the one you give your buddy who has never detected! :laughing7:

So, I guess from what I'm reading, the answer is try out a few in your price range, either through a dealer or a club and then committ to the one that seems to be the most comfortable to work with and resist being seduced into selling or trading it for something that is being hyped as better. Then use the machine every chance you get. This should wind up being the best beep-dig machine.
