Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Several years ago, I hunted a U.S. site, the owner passed away, and the land was not farmed and grew up in weeds. Later, the land was sold and cleaned up. The first box of relics came from hunts at that site over 10 years ago. The last box is of my finds from late last year and recent finds using the F75. The five pieces of lead (including the lead pencil) are from my hunt this morning. Dman, Josh, & Tenn. Digger hunted some there and dug relics too. Note the .74 cal. round ball that I dug there last week to the right of the pulled .69 cal. musket ball. The .74 cal. lead is a ball for a British import 1842 “Musketoon” Rifled Pistol. These balls show up only occasionally in early CS & US camps as they were pre-CW era imports. Note the fired one in the pic from this morning. This is the 4th one of these bullets that I have dug from that site. It sure pays to re-check ground conditions where you dug CW relics before. HH, Quindy.
