I found this beauty in cabarrus county NC about 4 miles from where gold was first discovered

in the US. The biggest I have found in NC in 40 years 1 1/2 oz they didn't find it all. The

first photo is the way it was found the others are after I removed some of the rock.

WOW great find ~ would be cool to see what it looks like after you use acid (or whatever) to remove the rock and see just the gold!!! BIGTIME congrats buddy!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Welcome aboard,and fantastic specimen!!!

Aw some find I am still looking have found some small flake and fines but nothing to brag about yet maybe a couple pennyweights if you call it that, would love to find some nice specimen rock like that collectors are paying top dollar for it these days. Found allot of my stuff with the sluice box got a nice hit with my detector then started sifting and then sluiced the material. Wanted some nuggets but no luck still do not have a digital camera yet soon as I do I will add some pictures.

floparoc,
Way to go there fella! Simply Superb raw nugget and now that I've written that I've realized that it is not rounded meaning it is LIKELY that you found it not far from where it came off the rest of the vein! Way Cool!! As someone else has already commented, without giving away the location in any way, what were you doing to find it (IE; metal detecting, looking for mushrooms, etc.). Having asked for info I would also like to say that it is time to be quiet about your find as Gold is either what dreams are made of or nightmares and the latter comes from loose lips.

Now back in 10 (that's 2010) I happened upon a nice little hot patch here in California along a river bank that I pulled some nice 1/4" diameter flat nuggets from. It was a great adventure, lots of stories forever and there's more out there as like you said "they did not get it all".

Have fun, be prosperous and be safe.............63bkpkr

Here's a picture of the total 2010 take

Man great find. That specimen still looks "fresh".

Make sure to look good and hard around the area... you may be able to find the source!

That's a beautiful collector's piece.

good luck
