Got out to a beach this morning to try to clean up a little. I met up with TreasureFiend and LowBatts. Keeper finds were scarce, so we headed to the nearby sledding hill. Talk about trashy! Every sweep of the coil produced a kaleidoscope of various tones, most low, indicating VDI's of 0-40 (I can't imagine how nervewracking it'd be had I not discriminated iron). I decided to dig my very first signal at the base of the hill. It indicated the target was a VDI of 20 at 4 inches. Out popped a 1943 P silver war nickel. Talk about luck. Two wheats followed, 1953 and 1955, both at around the 6 inch mark. Then I got a good quarter signal at 3 inches, dug down and there was a 925 pin. UPDATE: I used my jeweler's loupe and discovered the pin is a Tiffany & Co. pin from 1983, from the Peretti line. They cost between 145-195 dollars new! I would have never guessed. I thought it was bent out of shape but actually it's a fancy letter "B". How cool is that. Also ended the day with $4.56 in clad.
I'll let TreasureFiend and LowBatts tell their stories. Their finds weren't too shabby either.
